1) Do not select "Show cash in a checking account"

2) If you did, and Quicken is crashing when you uncheck that option, here's how to recover

3) Create a brand NEW empty checking account

4) Cut & paste transactions from Brokerage linked checking account to new blank checking account

5) Do this in increments of 398 transactions, 400 transactions will crash Quicken

6) At the first prompt of "Deleting transfer to cleared [R] item. Are you sure?" hit ENTER multiple times

7) That will fill the keyboard buffer, and you don't have to repeatedly answer with "Yes"

8) That will also answer "Yes" to "Is this the same transaction as…", which is what you want

9) Paste the cut transactions into the new checking account

10) Repeat as many times as needed, ignoring the unreconciled transfers back into the brokerage linked checking account

11) You will be left with some transactions in the Brokerage Checking that used cash, or created cash

12) If there are less than about 400 of those, it should be safe to uncheck "Show cash in a checking account"

13) If Quicken still crashes, you need to delete some, and recreate those transactions, if you so desire

14) I had thousands, so I just deleted them all

15) You may be left with a lot of unposted, unreconciled transfers in other accounts

16) Just reconcile those, or if you are anal, manually give them a posting date, before reconcile

17) If you choose to manually post, sorting by "Reconcile Status" will show the ones not reconciled

Avoid problems like this by never choosing "Show cash in a checking account" in the first place.
