First, hello to the community. I've read Doc's primer, am studying hard, opted out and will hopefully soon take some critical steps. Once I do and I've educated myself adequately I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions. In the mean time, the search bar is my friend.

That said, I've got one unique problem that I didn't find an answer to, and it's amid the top priorities, so some advice would be appreciated:

As I began to triage my reports and plan what to say and to who, I noticed that two recent medical bills weren't on there. I pulled these reports 3 months ago so they're mostly current. But this bill, just recently it went to a collection agency-- in the past month or two.

How do I handle that? Do I get in touch with the OC and offer a PFD, and just assume that they have or are planning to report this to the CRAs? I have some money- not enough to pay the whole of what they're asking, but I am in a position to talk. And obviously getting this done before it went to a CA would have been ideal, but it is what it is. I'd hate to get in contact with them and make a mistake, which I understand is easy to do in this game. And if it IS on the brink of hitting my report, I obviously want to handle it quickly.

Thanks. Looking forward to all the learning.

Welcome to CreditBoards! We hope that you find what you're looking for here.

Some helpful tips:

  • Your post may not get a reply right away. Don't be discouraged, this is a very busy board. If it falls off of the first page, feel free
to reply to your post yourself, with the word *bump* in the text. This will *bump* your post back up to the top of the board.
  • If you haven't yet, take a peek at out Newbies Section.
Everything that you need to know is in that forum, for the most part! It's a lot of reading, we know, but this credit stuff can have a steep learning curve. In no time, you'll be posting like the pros!
  • If you find that someone is discourteous to you, use the REPORT button at the bottom of every post - that will ensure that a moderator or admin looks at the post and decides if it is against the TOS.
  • Off -topic posts should go in the General Forum.

Again, welcome to the CreditBoards family!

I would say first and foremost you should pull your reports again and see if they are on there. That will be the basis of what your next step is.
