  1. Congrats!
  2. I joined as a contractor. I work for a media company that publishes the base newspaper. And I do work for that newspaper. I think the key is that the contracting is done on base. They didn't ask for proof for membership (or haven't yet anyway) but they did when I applied for a credit card ... Had to send a letter from my employer.

    NFCU

After 9 days of faxing, phone calls and confusion, I'm approved for NFCU's Cash Rewards card, $1,000 CL. Here's some info that might be helpful to anyone in my boat ... - My EQ fico is 622. Only baddie is a First Premier charge off from 2007. Otherwise thin file ... I've had Hooter's, BBRZ and Fingerhut for just a few months. Two closed paid-off car loans are on my report. No other lates or collections. - I had to fax in proof of contractor status, driver's license, Social Security card and proof of address. - I make $50,000 a year I know $1,000 might seem low to all those getting $15,000 and $20,000 CLs with Navy, but to me it's HUGE! Thanks again to CB for helping me get here.
  4. My packet said, and they told me by phone, I don't need to send in the paper app since I applied and funded online.
  5. It showed a day or two after I applied. Edited to add: Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it was a soft. I pulled my report the other day, I'll check.
  6. I got a hard inquiry on Equifax to open a checking account and I had to fax DL, SSN and proof of address to the BSA dept. They opened my account within a few hours of faxing over the info.
  7. The waiting on Cash Rewards is killing me. I hoped it'd be like Navchek, where I got the 24-hour message and an hour later got the approval e-mail. Now wishing I hadn't caved on the cc app. So far, only one inq alert from Score Watch.
  8. I caved and app'd for cash rewards. Got the 3-5 day message.
  9. Wow Johnny! I wanna be just like you.
  10. Thank you TangMeister! I kinda wish I asked for more, foeplay. But reading up here it seems it's based a lot on income and I make $50,000, which ain't high.
  11. I should get the name right! I applied for $2,000 because I didn't want to seem greedy either. I'm sooooo tempted to app for a credit card. But I'm not pushing my luck.
  12. I got approved for NFCU membership today and this evening I applied for NAVcheck LOC. I got the 24-hour message. But I just checked again it says I'm approved! For the $2,000 I asked for! I was so sure they'd either deny me or make me send in paystubs and drag it out. This is by far the biggest credit limit I have. My EQ score is 622, thin file. In the last six months I've gotten Fingerhut, BBRZ and Hooters. Only baddie is a First Premier charge off, unpaid, from '07. CB gets all the credit,so thank you everyone here. I just hope I'm not dreaming ...
  13. Looks like I'm in. I've got a member number. Fingers crossed!
