Loan /Line Of Credit Using My Car Title As Collateral?

thanks MarvBear - i'm looking for about 4000-5000, but my car if i were to privately sell it is worth $6090 in excellent condition according to KB...so i don't think i will qualify for that amount. it's more in good condition to fair....good is $5615 & fair is $4815 i'm going to contact some credit unions tomorrow....along with some banks like citi fin, wells fargo, etc.....but from what i have been reading....having a collateral loan is easier to get then an unsecured loan. i want a loan that is paid monthly....i know with my scores not being the best i may get a higher interest rate, but i do not want to deal with a payday/title loan company....i sure hope i am approved somewhere.....i just have some bills that are weighing on me....and i want them over with and taken care of....and so i can just focus on one payment and maybe have a little cushion while i get through this storm...please pray for me -

yeah.....the car title places are what i want to avoid.....i was wanting to get a loan through a reputable company/bank.....use my car as collateral and then have monthly payments to pay it off....this is a temp jam i'm in......but i want it resolved asap. i was hoping a bank/credit union would offer me a personal loan with my car as collateral. basically i need a loan....but my credit is not the best and i am self employed....so i am considered high risk -

thanks for the info! when you say "the traditional small loan stores located in the strip malls like Citifinancial or American General, or Wells Fargo."........are these different from regular banks....where i do my biz banking? are these common loans? are they difficult to qualify for? thanks for the help! -
so i have my own business - things have been slow and i need some cash to get somethings paid and just give me peace of mind. i have a car that the blue book says is worth between $3125 to $4175 if i were to trade it in.....if it were a private sale it would be worth $4815 to $6090. it's a 2003 f-150 that has about 71,000 or less miles....very basic car...i love the thing! since i have my own business (home based so it's considered risky, but we have been in biz for 8+ years) it's difficult to get a loan. my credit scores have tanked since we moved into another place (we rent).....my high last year was 755....it is now probably mid to high 500's (have no idea why it tanked...have looked at everything....all i can think of is that 2 items are hitting their 7 year mark from now to Oct and maybe they are getting aggressive (those will be the only bad ones on my credit besides a couple of times being late on my car payment last year...i now own the car)....also, i had more inquires on my credit cause of the move, but that should not cause a huge drop like that! anyway...i own the car full out - i know they have title loans that can offer me $1700 bucks today, but the interest is i think $20 for every $100 borrowed....so we are looking at an interest at a interest payment of $400 something each month if i do not pay the loan off within the first 30 days...otherwise i can pay the interest payment again and extend the loan again. anyway....i want to avoid this.....seems very risky and not the best idea....but i am almost to the point i just need to get stuff done! i spoke to someone and they said that i should contact banks, credit unions and such and see if they will give me a loan/line of credit using my car title as collateral. since it's sunday most places are closed....but does anyone have any suggestions on this? i have researched it online.....some people are saying yes....there are banks and credit unions that will do this....others are saying no. any suggestions? any one i should contact? anyone heard of thinkcash.com? just something i came across thanks in advance for the help!

so they said they would set you up on net terms, but you would have to pay daily every time you used their card for fuel? if that is what they told you, then i would call them back and speak to someone else...that defeats the purpose of have terms you know?

Business Development Division - got a call from them tonight

so.....having a Corp gives you more protection? that is what i thought...and that is why I filed it that way....this person on the phone was telling me no....LLC is the best...and then you could get all the lines of credit you wanted.....donald trump files for BK all the time....and look...he is protected...cause it's not his money...the key is using other peoples money he said in so many words. he basically said that they are a middle man....they find lines of credit (he said they were unsecured lines of credit, but he also mentioned that he was new and this was stuff i would have to talk to the expert about since he did not know everything) he said that i would have to pay a fee...then they could get me these lines of credit....that the fee is a type of insurance....and that when i get the line of credit i could just pay myself back the insurance money with the line of credit (but i guess i pay interest on the "insurance money" i paid for the line of credit if i wanted to pay myself back).....they said they get their customers about 150,000 lines of credit....it would take about 6 months to get that much...but that was average, but to get started...i would need to pay the "insurance" -
the only reason i was asking was though i appreciate all that everyone has added to this site, it really seems like things have changed overnight from 09 to 10. so....anyway to create another sticky for 2010 credit - what was applied for..the results, etc. like i now know that i should apply for the HD net card first, rather then the revolving card. that GE is still tough.....more so now and that valero will never approve me (waiting on the letter to let me know why)

well....the terms were that we were to pay before the order shipped...that is what we have always done...but they shipped the items out without running our card first. the point is not if we were going to pay the bill.....we pay our bills....it's the matter of how it was handled...making threats after 5 days is not a very good business decision...especially when the call is recorded. we spoke to our attorney....he said it's not worth pursuing....we were not planning on to.....we were just interested if we had rights and if we could take legal action to prevent him from contacting our customers or if he did contact our customers.....our attorney said that we had several options if we wanted to pursue it, but it's not worth it. we just wanted to know our rights and i feel better knowing that we have some. i understand that everyone has bills to pay...we all do....believe me....we know....i just don't think it was handled correctly at all and because of it we have stopped carrying their items.....time to move on....thanks for everyone's feedback....appreciate it

that is what i thought...they had me on the phone for over an hour....was just wondering...they are calling back friday....but i was interested in learning about the LLc vs INC..they said there was more protection under an LL then Corp...sound right? thanks -
very odd call today......so we have a vendor we do very very little business with...they make custom items..takes about a month before it ships directly to our customer. anyway, they charge us before they ship an order out....they have our CC on file over there.....but the CC that we have on file over there expired, but they went ahead and shipped the orders anyway, they did not contact us first....it was for a total of $341 anyway....orders were shipped on the 6th....we were not aware that these items shipped because we were never told that they shipped......i think i received a call on the 7th or 8th to call them back to give them an updated CC.....i could not at the time cause of a medical emergency...i had other things i had to take care of....i was going to give him a call this week....i knew that we owed him some money and needed to give him a new card. well today we calls one of our reps and says that he needs payment of 2 invoices and that if he did not receive payment shortly, he was going to contact the 2 customers he shipped to and tell them what was going on (basically i guess he was going to slander us)........i was just floored when i heard this....and all calls are recorded so i heard the recording. these orders were just shipped on the 6th....today is the 14th. i know this is not a legal site...but i just had to rant....but also i wanted to know....could he contact our customers and slander us like that without legal recourse? he basically threatened to do so unless he heard from us...we have it recorded.....i am speaking to our lawyer tomorrow about this just so i know.....but he sold the items to us...he just shipped the customers the items to the customer....he should not be in contact with our customers...he has no relationship to them....but just the idea that we would contact our customers is just amazing....been doing this for 8 years....it's a first...and this is all for a card that was expired and for a bill that was for $341 and that we did not get back to him within 5 biz days....just amazed by it. with that being said....i know it's not really a credit question, but kinda is....but we are all small biz owners on here....what are your thoughts? does he have the right to do that? without talking to my lawyer....i don't think he does...thoughts?
