  1. My son is going for a mortgage with scores that were over 800. His new wife added him to her Chase United Mileageplus as authorized user. They both pay their own bills. She just got pregnant and was lax on paying over the summer, so a couple of 30 day lates. Now my son's scores are in low 700's. Of course they are looking at buying a new home, just based on his scores. I've read on some posts where he can get himself deleted as authorized user on her card, then dispute as not mine/not responsible. I've read that usually works, but also read that Experian won't do it? How do you remove yourself as an authorized user from a credit card? How long does the process take, and how long should you wait until disputing to get 30 day lates off credit report? Also, is it best to dispute this with credit bureaus after getting off as authorized user by mail or online? Thanks!
  2. Now that I have repaired my credit and my spouse and I have added to our CC collection, I get antsy every month making sure that everything is paid on time. Not only our CC's but all monthly payments. I put a spreadsheet in exel that I keep copying and advancing every two weeks when we get paid, but I have to keep adjusting who needs to get paid because the days shift. I have my moneydance software (similar to quicken) which I have set up to give me auto-reminders, and I recently just printed out the calendar from moneydance showing the whole month - what is due and when - that I check off when paid, which gives me a month at a glance. Is there a better way to ease my mind. With the addition accounts we have entered, I just don't want one of them to fall through the cracks. As I am writing this, the thought came to me that perhaps I should do automatic payments on all my CC's for the minimum (I have this set up on my utilities), so that I know I would never miss a payment. I never pay the minimum, but either pay in full, or a big chunk. Can't have them pay a large chunk automatically, because the day I do that would vary with the day get paid. Maybe this is just the ocd getting the best of me. Just wanted to see what others are doing. Thanks!
  3. Thank you everyone. The letter I originally saw was very confrontational for a first letter. Confrontation has its place, but I didn't think it would be helpful here. You have "validated" my instincts. Thanks!

  5. Working with someone on a DV letter to send to collection agency because they have just received a collection letter from them. Debt is still within SOL, and just under a grand. Have seen some dv letter templates here that are tough - and that is fine, I love being tough dealing with these people. However, should we be treading lighter when it is within SOL? By the way: collection agency is Northstar Location Services, LLC, and the creditor is FIA Card Services, which shows as BofA on credit report. Thanks!
  6. Thank you, Denise!
  7. Thanks eatcookies and newstart... 3 sounded right, so 3-5 would be better, and to mix it up sounds good. Newstart: where is this "sc site" you mentioned?
  8. Thanks for the recommendation. What was your score at the time, if you recall... Also, anyone else with recommendations? And how many positive tradelines during rebuilding is ideal.
  9. Helping someone rebuild credit. Did some searches, and I am finding names here and there of who to use for a secured card. 1. For someone starting to rebuild after settling/paying off a lawsuit with cap1, and other "stuff" we are working on, how many active POSITIVE tradelines would be ideal while we are cleaning things up? 2. What would be the better secured credit cards to apply for where you can start out smaller ($200-500) and add to it over time, and who eventually will make it an unsecured card? They are not eligible for NFCU. Thanks!
  10. If I have a $5k or $10k card, how will PIF on $250 to $500 a month (or less) justify a CLI? I'm not doubting what you are saying, just trying to learn so we can use this new credit to its utmost, since we have worked so long and hard to get here.
  11. Now that my spouse and I have some of the credit cards we want at the limits we desire, how do we best use them to build our credit even better and be able to ask for a CLI in 3/6/12 months? On two cards, we have the 0% APR introductory rate for 12 months, and we purchased some furniture with that which we will pay off over that period of time. On the others (ranging $5k to $20k), how do I best use these? Most have the intro 0% APR rate and 0% BT rate. If I just spread out our monthly expenses over the 8 cards and PIF monthly, that doesn't add up to a lot on each. I guess we could do a little on each monthly and PIF, and take a chunk and put on one per month and PIF so that it is a larger amount. I'm trying to do this so that when we go for a CLI, we can justify doing so. How about a 0% BT? How do cc companies look at that? I could BT from the two cards I bought the furniture from to another of the 2 cards that have 0% BT. Do cc companies look at this as something good, and will it help us? Thanks!
  12. Applied for a Citi cc that pulled EX, which is the only one showing an unpaid state tax lien. This lien was paid 2 years ago, but EX still showing as unpaid. I am working on EX with this. Approved for the cc, but would like to recon for a higher limit and lower APR (they said APR was 21.99%). Suggestions on how to handle?
  13. Applied for a few cc's after closing on a mortgage before moving to the new house, so that I can use my time that I have lived at the present home (8 years and renting). Been approved, but want to recon for larger limits. How would I best handle the question of the mortgage loan inquiries (2 on each CRA)?
  14. Yep, calling in did it. Thank you.
  15. Been approved for Discover It, but they didn't say how much. When do you find out, when you get the card?
