I turned 18 two weeks ago
In the past week I've been approved for the following
BOA Platinum plus-7600
Chase Platinum-1800
City MtvU-4000
Best Buy-1100
Did get turned down for HSBC-weekender
I have no plans on doing any more applying for a full year and I will never charge what I can't pay off in full.
My scores are 745TU 721EQ 724EXP
My parents have really helped by adding me as an AU on a Target Visa, Shell gas card and AMEX when I turned 16.
For the first 6 months I could not carry the cards, any purchases I had to ask permission to make and give my mom the money from each check to pay in full. After 6 months they let me carry the cards with me, but the same deal applied, only spend what I could pay in full each month.
Currently I'm going to school for Business, I'm also a partner in a production company, we manage, promote and book events for local bands. My goal is to have my own indie label, like fueled by ramen in the near future.
Anyways, this account was created by my dad but he never posted, I figured I would use it to say thanks.
Most of my friends are clueless about credit, I'm glad my parents found these boards.
I do want to ask, is my plan of not applying for credit for a year a good one? or should I wait longer?
