  1. Thank you! What I was hoping to hear
  2. In 2009-2010 we had a few 30 day lates on our home equity loan. Never a late on 1st mortgage. Scores in low to mid 700s. I am disputing the lates because I believe the bank was in error but if they don't come off, I'm worried. What impact will this have on a new mortgage app next year? Thanks!!
  3. Nothing is showing on a report--it's just those darn phone calls. Just to my house. Driving me crazy! I can definitely find the address to mail to but what on earth would I put in the letter? I don't know which one of us they're contacting. Would I just give our phone number to id us? Thanks! And shouldn't recordings like that be illegal? Anyone could have picked up my phone.
  4. Portfolio Recovery has been calling lately. I know this is some kind of zombie account way out of SOL but I'm not sure what it could be. Don't know if it's mine or my husband's. Definitely more than 15 years old and couldn't be more than $100. Nothing is on either reports. After a ton of ignored phone calls, curiosity got the best of me and I picked up the phone. There was a recorded message about attempting to recover a debt and a number to call (can they do that?). I'd just really love for them to stop calling but I'm not sure what approach to take. I would like to send a letter but I don't know what to include or which of us should write it. We're going to start shopping for a new house next year and I imagine the phone calls will get worse then. Any advice? Thank you!
  5. I did the same thing just yesterday! Was successful with PB, Restoration Hardware and Ann Taylor cards. I got the 2-3 day message with all. Each up to 2-3k now (from about 1k). My FAKOs are in the low 700s and I have had lates with them in the past (2 years ago)
  6. I am writing a DV/c&d letter for some zombie debt. The name the CA sent the letter to is my maiden name. Do I type my married or maiden name at the bottom of the letter? I've been married for 15 years (that's how old the debt is). I don't want to give them information they may or may not have but I do not want to represent myself. Any thoughts? Thanks!!
  7. I found some good Cap One numbers on consumerist.com. I don't remember which number I called (look in their archives, there's a few) but I got a very helpful woman in exec. customer service. Good luck!
  8. Thanks for the encouragement, guys! I was hoping I could compel them to change it because they are reporting it as 30 days when it wasn't. Not sure how to prove that though. My bank statements show the day it was processed by HSBC when the funds came out of my account--not the date it was sent I just know that they must have record of when payments are first received I'm just not sure they'll share that with me I'll just keep asking til I can't ask no more!
  9. Congrats! Dell chopped me down to nothing. Maybe they gave you the credit they took from me?
  10. Sorry! I feared I wasn't explaining myself well. For example: in October 08 my payment was due on the 6th. I sent it electronically via my bank on October 24th (late, for sure) and although it came out of my bank balance immediately they didn't credit my account until November 7th and reported it as 30 days late to the CRA. I made all of my payments this way and it usually only took 3-5 days to come out of my bank account (now I have it automatically deducted and it comes out and is processed the same day, magically). It only took them this long to process on the four times we were late. My gut tells me they're not going to budge and I won't have a leg to stand on because it was late. It just stinks that it should be reported as 30 days because it took them so long to process the payment.
  11. According to my credit reports, in 2008 I have 4 30-day late payments on my home equity loan with HSBC. While each of those payments were indeed late (rough year), they should have been received well within 30 days. According to my bank records (we paid via online banking with our bank because HSBC won't let you pay home equity loans online), HSBC took up to 10 days to credit our account after the payment was made and then reported it 30 days late to the CRAs. The letter I sent to an HSBC exec was returned saying they were reporting correctly because I was late. We'll be mortgage shopping in another 18 months (or so) and I imagine those lates would be a BIG deal to a prospective lender. I would like to find another way to dispute. Is it ok to sit on payments for that long? Think I have any recourse? Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you! PS This was originally posted in the mortgage forum but it was suggested that I might get more help here since it's credit-related.
  12. Thanks Brian! I thought about posting there but wasn't sure where this fit
  13. ? bump

FYI--since then we've made every payment on time and have never been late on our primary mortgage. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thank you!
