Ok, thanks.

I got a surprising letter from AFNI trying to collect on a $192.39 debt to Verizon West Virginia Inc. I never lived in West Virginia, however, the reverse phone lookup goes to Herndon, VA, where I did live about 7 years ago. The number doesn't look familiar, though, and there's no info like account number, date of last activity, or etc. So basically I am about 80% sure it's absolutely not mine, and 20% wondering if something else happened, like they didn't shut off the phone when I moved and someone racked up bogus charges, or maybe identity theft? I'd guess if it was ID theft there would be more alarm bells going off like credit card applications, etc. Just checked my credit reports and this does not appear anywhere. What should I do? DV anyway? Ignore it? Obviously can't dispute because there is nothing to dispute (although letter mentions that they WILL report to Credit Bureaus). Thanks, AMY

I was referred from my other favorite website, www.makeupalley.com!

I had a sub-500 TU score in October. Got a card with my mom as a co-signer, then was able to get target, wachovia, and walmart in late december. Clearing up your "baddies" probably helps a lot. I'd agree with the others, either get a joint card with someone who trusts you (and you trust), a secured card, and concentrate very hard on making all your bills on time.

Yes, unfortunately the whole reason it's on my report is b/c the address is the one I lived @ with my roommate (whose debt it is). :/ But I did get a bunch of old addys removed anyway.

So, maybe I have evil credit as two of my scores are 666. But if it's the devil, I'll take it b/c my TU is up to 601! I'm in the 600 club!!! Biggest problem - still one very sticky CO on TU (AFNI, I disputed as not mine, b/c technically it's my roommates, but it is sticking like glue). It makes me very grumpy, but as I'm seeing improvement even with it on there, I'm becoming complacent. Other problem - 15 inqs since September on EQ. 6 or so on EX. I've already put myself on a no-app policy, but it's so hard, esp. when the BF just got a $4K Kroger Mastercard that I got denied for a few months ago.

argh! I just read something about verizon changing its reporting, but that doesn't help me at all.
-
I just got a cell, provided I pay it on time, it will help my credit report, right?

so larger files are more likely to split? makes sense, i guess. that's the last thing I need....

wow! that's some CLI! rolling it into an AMEX would be like, my birthday and x-mas all in one.

I dunno, I think they actually sold my Verizon CO (actually an ex-bf's, which I disputed as not mine but it didn't work) BACK to Verizon. At least that's what it appears. They did stop calling/letters.

I was denied by them with scores approximating the ones in my signature. Too many inq's, probably - but I haven't got the letter yet.

denied. :/

I'd kind of like to apply for this, but I *do not* need the hassle that happened to others earlier.

Wouldn't know... I was referring to OP saying that they don't have a score yet, nothing reporting, and the accounts they are trying for being an AU are only 2 months old. Takes 6 months of payment history and/or reporting to get a FICO score. Oh, I gotcha. I ran into that problem a little bit, and the DAY that my account became 6 months old, voila! I had credit scores.
