  1. I have the same issue and I'd like to know, too. Mine are not paid however.
  2. I had a mobile home repossession ($40,000) age off all three credit reports last month, however, there has been no change at all in any of my scores. Does anybody know approximately how long it takes to see a score change after something this significant is no longer reporting? Thanks!
  3. Wooops... sorry for the typo. Should read FEDERAL oversight!
  4. It's about time!! (Hope this isn't old news to you guys!) http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/16/12758288-credit-bureaus-to-get-federal-oversight-for-first-time?lite
  5. Ok, so I really got serious about repairing my credit two months ago and so far, I am really pleased with what I have accomplished. I have managed to get rid of 11 collection accounts, including an LVNV collection that was past the SOL for reporting, and I have brought all three of my student loans current (from being 180 days late... now I just have to try to get the lates removed but I'm working on it!) I still have 6 collection accounts to go, all of which are medical and I plan to use WhyChat's method on those. I have two charge-offs from Ginny's and Country Door (which I am praying will be removed with a GW letter and PFD, but I understand that they are very hard to deal with.) And last but not least, a charge-off from a mobile home repossession that should fall off in March of next year which I am not even going to touch since I have not heard from them in over 5 years. I just want to say thank you to everybody here who has contributed here in any way. When I found this board, I was scared to death and clueless. After reading and learning so much here, I feel empowered and not the least bit intimidated. I don't ask many questions, because I can usually find what I am looking for by searching. And when I get discouraged, I get renewed inspiration from all the success stories floating around. So... thanks, again, CB family! You guys are the best!
  6. I'm new here too but I am guessing that since 12 years have passed, depending on what state you live in, that old debt is past the SOL (but check your state's info to make sure...) I would send them a FOAD letter and tell them under no circumstance are they to call you again. Rinse and repeat every time the debt is passed around. It will eventually go away. That's just my opinion.
  7. So a couple of weeks ago, I was locked out of the backdoor through USAA with Experian. I kept getting a message that they needed to verify my identity before I could access my credit reports through the dispute portal on USAA. I called them up and was told that yes, I needed to send a copy of my DL and a bank statement or utility bill, blah, blah, blah. So I sent them a copy of my DL and bank statement with a little note saying something to the effect of "enclosed please find proof of my identity and address." Then yesterday I got this in the mail... "We are responding to your request to remove your name and Social Security number from your credit report. This is historical information and it will remain on file. You will not receive this explanation again if you dispute this same item within the next 30 days." HUH??? I didn't even dispute anything! I just sent them what they were asking for! I swear, they are the WORST CRA to deal with of the three... by far... from the "previously investigated" BS to this!
  8. I think it would be a great idea to have a PFD success database. Maybe a GW success database too! Or combine the two. That would give people who have exhausted their DV efforts another option without clogging the board.
  9. Oh wow... and I just noticed that the two collection agencies that validated sent me bills for lesser amounts than are being reported on my credit reports! One bill states I owe $93 but they are reporting $126 on my credit reports and the other bill is for $237 and is reporting $285 on my credit reports!
  10. I have disputed with a few CA's, got my green cards back and have initiated disputes with the CRA's. In the meantime, two of the CA's have validated - are they still required to report the accounts in dispute when they verify with the CRA's, even after they have provided validation?
  11. Just bumping one time... anybody?
  12. I have a Seventh Avenue and a Country Door charge-off to the tune of about $400 each. They charged off in November 2011 and are on all three of my reports but so far, I don't think they have been sent to a CA just yet. I want to pay these - they are legit and I owe them. Just wondering if anybody has ever had any success with a GW letter to any of these companies (they are all Choose N Charge accounts, run by the same Swiss Colony family of companies.) From what I have read, the consensus is "no... they stick around like glue 'til the bitter end" but I just thought I'd ask anyway. Thanks for any info you can provide!
  13. That is awesome, Figueroaw! Great job! Yeah, they were recent collections so I was hoping it would make a difference. Oh, well, I can't complain since they are GONE!
  14. Hmmm... well, my FAKO scores went down when the collections were added to my credit report so I was hoping they would go back up when they were removed. Weird.
