This was my thought, if he gave her the card, regardless of ANYTHING that happened there after, it would essentially be found as his fault, correct? His estate would still be liable for it upon his passing correct? Essentially the sale of his home would take care of it, it would not "POOF" be gone as some in the family seem to think? I have no idea, my guess is he did not have an online ID, she created one (and would have been able to access any required info in his house) and did everything from there.

Yes, they called to verify a tire purchase I believe, ~1k, and then ~2 days after they called (at which point she had been doing this for a year without him knowing) she passed. I'm sorry, I'm getting the story mostly second and third hand, and quoted it incorrectly.

Morning all! My grandpa is in a weird situation. He gave his card to the mother of one of his grandkids (not a good lady, drug problems, etc.) for emergencies to help take care of his grand kids. Well, she logged into his account, added herself as an authorized user, changed the statement address, and ran up 12k in debt, over the course of the year, and he was unaware until they called him to verify a transaction. Add complication, she passed away shortly before he was informed of what was going on. Discover, obviously, is trying to get him to pay the debt. He is old enough where part of me says, just let it go and when he goes, it will go. As I know currently, no one else is an authorized user, so it shouldn't pass to them. Any advice? I know it's an odd situation, and I am all over the place on how to handle it...any help or thoughts would be hugely appreciated!

Long story short, a friend signed for a home for my wife now, girlfriend back then a few years ago. We lived there for a while, until things got bad (My friend lost his job, we took pay cuts and could no longer afford the home, etc). The property taxes haven't been paid in 2 yrs, we have SCREAMED for a loan mod for a while, no dice. As bad as it is, we asked him to allow them to foreclose and everyone walks away. We found a new home, the house is set to be auctioned in 3 weeks, but now the realtor who helped us find our new home to rent, she said she could get it short sold no problem...we moved out, she put it up. Offer came in, in a matter of hours, then 12 more and most higher than asking price. The bank refused the short sale...so now, I'm not sure what to do. I am in CA, which I understand is a no recourse state, so they can't come after him for whatever the monetary difference is? although someone told me that if the house auctions for 200k, I owed 400, the 200k difference is taxable income in a foreclosure? What about the back property taxes? If we can get the bank to agree to the short sale is it any better than a foreclosure? (I know credit wise it impacts you for less time?) I've gotten 10,000 different answers, then I remembered my friends on this board (was pretty active here when I was building my credit a few yrs ago) and figured I'd try and get some help. Any answers or sites to point me at, I would be eternally grateful!

Less than a month after I accepted that offer, I got an F/R... hadn't even moved everything I wanted to yet. Had to look elsewhere... Amex will not allow BT to checking though correct? Thanks so much for all the suggestions guys and gals I really appreciate it, as does the bride

bumpers...

or does anyone besides citi offer BT to checking/a check made payable to you, not seen as a cash advance? I need cash for the wedding, a lot of vendors don't allow credit cards...
-
Thanks old friend , mind me asking, how did you get Citi to no fee on the BT. The usual retention call? Everyone I have done with them has had their stupid 3% no cap fee on it, it's ridiculous no cap, and it looks like everyone is doing it now I am probably talking 30k or so, and floating it for a while, so probably a low for life would be better than 0% for a certain number of months.

Or seen any recently. Getting married next year and will need to carry a bit of a balance for a while...any help, MUCHO appreciated, thanks guys!

So, since Citibank has instated their 3% no cap fee, and from my recollection chase doesn't allow BTs to your bank accounts, and I have no good offers on my MBNA card....I need a new CC (or a way to get around citi's BT fee, and I did call retention already) that allows BT to bank account for limited or no fee. I am going to propose, just bought the ring and need to BT it away asap. Any recommendations?

So my girlfriend has no credit history. 1 paid charge off, 2 accts in collections but her scores are over 600 on all 3 bureaus. What advice would you give, what card could she get approved for to start rebuilding, she plans to pay the collections, but needs money soon to furnish her new home...any advice to help out here? I am thinking amex green or citi AA?

Does AMEX refund the restocking fee automatically, or do you have to call to have them do this? This is a great feature. I have always thought that fee to be bogus. you just have to call, buyers protection I believe.

I know George, and I don't normally do this, but had a credit fiasco a few days ago and need a good everday card for gas and groceries. I called citi and explained it this way I have a 4995.00 balance I charge 5 Total 5k My statement cuts on 21st I pay in full the 23rd I charge more charges for the next month, and continure my paying in full from now in. The citi CSR said I will not pay interest this way. Sound right?
-
so I have 5k sitting on my att card for a while now. I plan to pay it off this month, and the BT is 0%. My question is, if the 0% is still going, and I put a purchase on it this month before the statement cuts, but pay it off in full and use it for purchases next month, and pay it off in full next month I won't pay any interest, right?

Does it report a new account and you lose your age? Example, I currently have a case platinum card I never use, but as been open for like 4 years, I don't want to close it, and since I maxed out my $300 on citi dividend and AT&T I figured I could use another card that is similar, chase's cash rewards is, so I was thinking about asking for a product change to this, would I lose my age?
