Hello everyone. I am looking for some advise on a course of action I might take. I have a charged-off Cap one from 2005 with a balance of $1202.00. I am getting ready to apply for a mortgage and my score is 5 points shy of what I need to be at. Are there any pitfalls that you guys can see for me if I call Cap one, and pay my balance off in full? Since the card is closed, I think the high revolving balance is keeping my score down. According to the merged report my broker pulled the two top factors hurting my score are serious delinquency, and proportion of balances to credit limit too high on revolving accounts. The only other revolving acct I have is at a zero balance, so it has to be this Cap one dragging me down right?

CA Listed on Credit Report But I didnt send me anything
leefraagh replied to Gjnnets's topic in Credit Forum
I don't know if its considered timely or not, but when I had 3 collections on my report that I didn't recognize and have never heard from, I sent the CA a letter CMRR saying that I noticed they had put an item on my report and asking for information regarding the account. When I did this I never heard back from the CA, but the CA deleted from my reports. THey were for super small amounts and I really had no idea who they were. -
I was in just about the same spot as you in 2008. I needed a car though. Got hammered on the interest rate AND it did not help my Fico at all. Its funny in a sad way, the saleman kept saying it would really boost my score having a loan after 6 months of ontime payments. Well its going on two years of ontime payments and hasn't helped my score at all. The only thing that has helped is getting rid of my baddies with the information I have learned here.

I get this one all the time too, and like you, I do not have Facebook.

Its the address I got off their dunning letter that specifically says: Please send all correspondence to: "address" I guess I will just be vigilant about checking my reports to make sure they do not appear. I just think its wierd that is was unclaimed at the address they say to send correspondence to. I hope it was a matter of the OC recalling the debt. Its not very big and I was hoping to do a PFD with them.

Hi guys. I have another question regarding my original question. I DV'd West Asset within 30 days of the original dunning letter. I sent it CMRR to the address where they wrote to send correspondence to. Well my mailman just knocked on the door to return the letter to me. It is marked as return to sender, unclaimed, and unable to forward. These guys are not on my credit report and I don't want them to go there. Should I DV them again? I just want to preserve my right for validation in the 30 day window. Do you think they will continue to try and collect and say they never received a request for validation? What should my next steps be?

I have one secured card that I just opened this month. I am contemplating on what I could get unsecured. I would advise you to either open up another large limit secured card that can graduate and just let it ride and you will see your scores go up and end up with two nice unsecured cards when you're ready to add more. I regret my HSBC card because I didn't know they were going to be so stingy with CLIs when I was approved. As soon as I get my scores up and get nicer CU cards, I'm getting rid of it. What is considered a good limit if I open up another secured card? Right now I just got the Public Savings Bank secured for 500 since I knew they would not pull my credit report. I guess I have read so much about inquiries that I am a little gun shy. Actually a lot gun shy. I have had such good results cleaning up my reports, but I know I need to establish credit as well.

Hi, does anyone know if you are pre-qualified for the bbrz card do they automatically approve you once you apply? I have been reading up on this and I have looked in the credit pulls database to find out information. It looks like they pull EQ alot. I was pre-qualified, but EQ is my worst report. I have two paid medical collections that I cannot get removed and they bring my score down below 600. I guess I am a little bit scared to actually apply without more information. Thanks!

Paid Medical Collection

I am afraid so. You can send a copy of all your complaints and disputes to your State AG office and file a complaint with the BBB against Eq. I really can't understand them, it is usually Experian that doesn't obey the law, Equifax is usually quite good about correct deletions. Well I might try that. Its funny how everybody calls EX the devil. They are actually the only CRA that has never given me any trouble. I have a feeling they are probably my highest score too if I could get it. Thanks for everything you have done to help me. I think I will let this one sit for a while and go on to other things. Leefraagh -
Thanks for the advice! I will follow it.

Hi. I wanted to get some tips. I have been doing credit repair since March and am having success. I just received my first secured credit card and want to use it responsibly and in a way that will help my score. Should I carry a balance less than 10% of my credit limit, or should I charge less than 10% and PIF. I really have never used revolving credit responsibly before so I was wondering what some guidelines should be. Thanks!

Update on the Palisades saga: EQ deleted! Since TU refuses to delete, I sent a letter to HSBC asking them who they sold the debt to. I sent a letter to EMCC asking them if they owned the debt, and for validation if they do. I sent a request for validation from Palisades in response to the letter they sent me. I don't know if this matters or not, but since the letter I have from them is the first I have ever heard from Palisades, I added that I am considering the request for validation timely. They did not include any of the mini miranda language in the letter they sent me. So I am waiting once again. The emails I exchanged with the exec at TU and pretty mean. He basically tried to muddy the waters by making comments about me not paying my bills. I couldn't believe it. I just ignored what he said and stayed focused on the subject at hand: the illegal reporting by Palisades. When I get all my paperwork in order I will be back here for some advice about what my next steps should be. I sent all my letters out CMRR.

Paid Medical Collection

File a dispute with the FTC against Eq. and another against the CA. http://whychat.5u.com/hipaaftccomp.html I filed the dispute with the FTC against EQ and the CA. I followed the directions in the link provided. Saturday I received a letter from EQ saying they investigated and found the item in question belongs to me, and that I should contact the CA if I have any questions. I have gotten the exact same letter from them at every turn in this process so far. Am I stuck with a paid medical collection? -

How long since your redispute?? You should have had some kind of response from Eq within 30 days. Its been less than 30 days. I am expecting something in the mail from them since online it says the investigation was completed yesterday. I will wait and see what they say in their correspondence.
