I applied for a TERI loan recently with a 660 and a 120-day late and was declined. I had to get a cosigner before I was accepted. So I guess the answer is, I don't think so, but that is just my opinion.

This may also vary by lender and the particular program of study. You still have a few months, you should work on those lates. The lates that I had were removed the day before I actually reapplied with a cosigner. If I would have known they were coming off so soon, I would have delayed the day I actually applied because my report is clean otherwise (with TU, which they pulled).

That's too bad you didn't know the lates were being deleted! :D

Fortunately, I am going to get a score boost (hopefully), as I am being added as an AU with two really good CC's.

Unfortunately, altohugh I have cleansed the Eq SL lates entirely, I just got TU results today, and only some of the lates were removed. I guess I will have to dispute again ASAP in hopes of deletion prior to applying. I will have a cosigner for the loans either way, but my understanding is that that has no bearing if the applicant's credit history is not satisfactory. Please tell me that I am incorrect...

For my situation at least, I don't know because I think the lates were removed (and I therefore had a clean CR) by time TERI pulled my TU report. I have heard stories of people who said they had credit worthy cosigners that were declined, but I've also heard it depends on the school you attend. All of this is speculation, and especially with the schools because I am attending one in the Caribbean where there are a few credible schools and many more that are not. This wouldn't be a problem for an American School.

The fortunate thing is you have plenty of time.
