I accepted my student loan offers up until summer of this year, the max amount because I even needed more than they offered but anyways, I am curious about something. I have been told that you only get the full amount if you are enrolled full time. I am currently enrolled in 6 units, which in grad school is full time, but this summer I planned to take 6 units so I accepted the full amount. I am having a pretty hard time with the program and need a break, but could use the loan money toward living expenses, etc still. Will I no longer get any of my loans because I will only be enrolled part time?

I know I should probably call my aid office, but they are closed, and I am trying to figure it out.

Thanks in advance.

All I can say, is BORROW as little as possible. If you need a break, fine, but get a job. I'm not slamming you, I made the mistake myself. I now sit with a huge loan payment and 30 years of repayments because I was young, naive, and stupid. You're probably none of those things, but please don't make the mistake that I did.

oh I have been working full time since my first year of college. Thanks for the advice! BUT I am going to a private very expensive school, and rent in socal is through the roof, so, unfortunately, I NEED it, only for one more year. BUT for now I need it. So I am trying to see what would happen if I went to part time for one semester, or if I can't talk a break?
