Is it wise to consolidate?

I read an article that rates on student loans are going up in May.

I have about 13,000 owed with ACS. I don't recall offhand the rate or terms.

I also have a parent plus loan through Sallie Mae that has a 36,00 balance (and 2 more years to add on to it). The interest is 4.17 variable.

 

Is it wise to consolidate?

What a strange coincidence.... The All plus parent loan people called today asking if I wanted to consolidate. I told her yes, but call me another day. I need to do my research! I
