I have just discovered the creditboards and am very thankful for all the info. I have tried to search and find some info on Mapother & Mapother attorney's from Louisville, Kentucky, but I couldn't find any relevant info. To make a long story short, they filed suit against me for Citicorp on 11/15 and I didn't recieve the summons until the 24th because I was out of town on work. Does anyone have any experiences with the Mapother firm, specifically Charlie Gordon?

My other question is if anyone has dealt with Liberty Debt Management ]from Irving, TX. They also go by First American Debt Solutions. They have really screwed me over, I paid them $2250 to negotiate my $16k debt down to 8k and they haven't done a lick of work. Everytime I agreed to a settlement they had an excuse as to why the CA didn't accept the offer. They will not return my calls and have offered nothing but broken promises over the past year, they are 100% incompetent. Has anyone had any success suing debt negotiator's ?

I am considering;

1- calling Citibank myself and seeing if they will cancel Mapother's suit and let me reassume the debt or settle.

2- finding a BK attorney in Kentucky to see if my bank account and car (paid off) are exempt from Ch. 7

3- filling a Notice Of Appearance letter & Answer to the summons and hoping that Mapother & Mapother back off

Any advice, info, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Ian

Ok I'm very new (just found this site an hour ago) but I know Mapother. They filed in court against me...Had a sheriff show up on my doorstep and all....I paid them off and case has been dismissed. (have a letter to prove it.) Wish I had found this site before.

Anyway all I know about Mapother is they will sue and they (Mapothers) are related to Tom Cruise. I know weird trivia but I'm local to them and have know about them for years because of that connection. Of course had no idea what type of law they practiced until I got a letter from them....

jennwdw....

Thanks for answering, its good to know that someone else has been through this process with Mapother and come out of it OK. Do you have any advice on dealing with Mapother....did you negotiate a reduced settlement or did you have to pay the full amount?....lump sum or payment.....I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I feel lost dealing with all this. I sent you a PM if you prefer to discuss this privately.

Many Thanks,

Ian

my case hasn't gone to court yet so i can't help you there. however, you can prolly negotiate with citibank. they have sent me several offers to settle my debt by opening a new card with them and transferring the balance. i'm not in a position to take advantage of the offer, but if you are--might give them a call.
