So a Stafford loan is what?

Is it a student loan that almost anyone can get, because there's no credit check and backed by the fed. gov and the only downside is that it won't be for much $$$? Thx

I'm not sure of the technical details, but that about sums it up. If I can get one (with the credit I had at the time), then surely anyone can get one. I got a loan for $13,000, but then again, I don't know what you consider not much $$$.
