Hi all,
I'm new here but I've been lurking and reading for a month or so.
I'm to the point of deleting old addresses with the CB's and I have a question about Experian. The choices they give you when disputing an address are: 1. never lived there, 2. belongs to another person with same or similar name, 3. Identity theft.
I'm not sure which to choose. I do not want to be dishonest and say I never lived there and the second option isn't true either. I know better than to choose option 3.
What should I do?
I was successful deleting old addresses online with Equifax. I was afraid they would be the most difficult, but they replied and deleted in less than 24 hours.
Thank you in advance for your help. I am so glad I found this site.

You can send your request using snail mail. Something like "My address is ________________________________, please remove _________________________________ as it is not correct. "
However, EX won't delete them if they're tied to existing tradelines on your credit report; they call em Address ID #'s.

I had an address that would not drop, but it was matching up to a positive trade line and a negative trade line both different OC's.
I sent the positive trade line OC a letter explaining that experian had confirmed ________ as a valid address according to them and included photo copies of the page with that positive trade line with the address ID number highlighted and other tradelines blacked out via sharpie and the page with addresses highlighting the matching address ID. Then I requested they contact experian and request the incorrect address be deleted as it was invalid and verified in error. Not quoting of laws, just simple plan English.
The OC sent me back a form letter about their reporting policys standard boring letter, yet around the day I received the letter back from the OC the address magically disappeared of EX... so I think they just did not want to admit in writing but did request it be fixed.

How do you know which TL they belong to? I have some old EX addresses that won't go away. I have no idea which TL they are attached to.

On each TL there is an "address identification number" that corresponds to whatever address that one is tied to. You can see which one matches in the section that lists your identity information on your report.
