Trying to help out family. My dad go served papers last week for a JCP account opened 11yrs ago. JCP wrote the account off in 2003. My dad opened the door when the man said he was a detective and mentioned my youngest sisters name. My dad opened the door thinking something had happened to my sister. When he did the man said he was a detective and even had a gun on his hip. He had another man with him and the both carried some sort of badge. My dad asked who they were with and the man was being vague.

Anyway he gets the papers from them and it list my sister as my dads wife. Apparently she was AU on the account when she was a senior in HS. My sister casually mentioned it to me cuz they had to got to court today. When they went this am, the attorney was telling them that the SOL in Colorado is 6yrs. With the short amount of time given, yesterday I had my dad and sis read some info on WhyChats site,so they knew the SOL in CO is actually 3 yrs.

My dad filed his answer and needs to wait for court date to be set. Is this the way it is supposed to work? The dates on the paperwork didnt seem to jive-it basically gave him less than a week to file an answer, but the papers had a june 24th date on it. Im gonna look more into this cuz this doesnt sound right. I would really like to give them some direction on this and I need your help.

Oh-believe me I have been 'screaming' at them to get on CB and read so that they too can be informed. Im gonna stay on them cuz it will only benefit them.

Sorry for the long post-but I'd like to get them started on this while they dive into the newbie section.

As always-thanks in advance to the help!
