two days ago i entered disputes online with experian. here's what came back

acct #1 i disputed as not mine and the investigation results came back today as updated, not verified and they updated the c/o from 120 days late to 90/ late.

acct #2 i disputed as not mine and the investigation results came back today as reviewed, what the hell does that mean?

how can they give me investigation results as updated without it being verified? and what does reviewed mean?

"verified" means no changes to the account were made. "updated" means the DF provided updated info.

No idea what "reviewed" means. Has their 30 days expired? It may mean they are still investigating it and don't have a response for you yet.

DF is data furnisher and includes anyone that provides info to a CRA.

The only time they would "verify" is when they claim the info the CRA has is accurate. If they change a date or balance or something else, they "update". "verify" and "update" are mutually exclusive terms so it's one or the other...that or the CRAs delete.

The one account is marked as updated because they changed the trade line to read 90 instead of 120. It has no bearing on the review process. They have 30 days to review it and make any changes. Reviewed means nothing as far as I can tell. It is in fact, being reviewed.

Did you do this by mail?

Yes, Experian plays nothing but games.

You need to check out the Newbies section. Begin with the 1-2 punch.

Photo copy everything, you letter, the Certified receipt, return receipt, etc. And include copies in the mailing to Experian, so the F@#$ers know you've got photo evidence.

Notorize your letter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Otherwise, they'll return it as: "unable to verify your identity." They cannot say they can't verify your identity when a public notary has stamped the letter.

And, if you want to, here is the contact information for the Experian Vice President:

Laura DeSoto,

Senior Vice President

Experian Information Services,

475 Anton Blvd

Costa Mesa, CA 92626

714-830-5207 Phone

972-390-3889 (Fax disputes)

I should have been more clear. Updating includes verifying the rest of the information that wasn't updated. When they update, they are only changing information they admit is inaccurate. As far as the rest of the information, they are claiming it is accurate.

What I meant in my earlier post is that you won't get a "verified" and "updated" on the same dispute item. You'll get one or the other, but either way, it's considered to be verified.

Not yet, because they haven't p!$$@& me off yet. But I have a special place in my heart for Experian, b@stards.

man how do you get this info? how do you get the same info for oc's?

Laura DeSoto was stupid enough to go before the FTC and give a report, and on that cover sheet she put all of her contact information. I got the fax number by calling her number, which, by the way, really goes straight to her. You can find the report on the FTC website: www.ftc.gov/bcp/workshops/infoflows/present/desoto.pdf
