Direct Merchants/HSBC Discover

I applied for this card and am waiting on a decision but in the meantime, I would like to know if anyone has this card? I searched many threads but it doesn't seem that anyone has it. I hear both positives and negatives from HSBC but not much about Direct Merchants. Any feedback?

There's a thread or two out there about DMB..probably a year or more old. Like everything there are lovers and haters.

 

I have their MC and have had no problems with it so far. Their online accountcentral is very good. They have plenty of alert options to remind you when statements are ready, payments due, etc. and my payments have always post promptly.

Don't have much more to add except that I also have a DMB mastercard and have not had a problem. The APR is on the high side, and when I called to request lower APR, the CSR only agreed to lower it by a couple points, so I declined. I PIF every month, so it wasn't much of an issue but it rankled me a bit that they wouldn't lower the APR by much. The card is now safely tucked away in my sock drawer:-).

Direct Merchants Bank (DMB) used to be separately owned but has been purchased by HSBC.

I've had their MC for several months. No problems.

 

AFAIK it is only offered by mail ITA (invitation to apply). I don't think that DMB is one that can be applied for unless DMB approachs you first with a mail offer.

I love my Generic looking card. It was the first one I got with a credit line of 2400. After 3 months, I got an auto CLI that took me to 3600. I pif the card and about to ask for a decrease in the apr! I'll see what happens.

Hmmm, DW just received a pre-approved offer in the mail w/ 0% APR on BTs til 5/07. She already has a DMB MC.
