GATE Loan

I have some questions about GATE loans, and how they are legally categorized... Are they state/federal backed? Do SOL laws work with these loans? Do CA's have to validate these? How can they be successfully fought? I have a defaulted GATE loan that I signed for in 97/98. I thought this loan was a part of the rest of the federal loans I had consolidated and paid off years ago. Recently, Zwicker and Associates has been aggressively coming after me for this, and have been as horrible as their reputation lends... I have sent a DV letter, and got back copies of old promissory notes. Prior to finding creditboards, I have talked to them on the phone, and they are demanding I pay all $5000 now, and won't take any sort of payment plans or anything like that... I need help! I need to find another option... Any assistance you can give me would be greatly appreciated! - Jared
