  1. I read on another board that the lower of each person's middle score is used. For example, if husband's scores are 670, 680, 690 and wife's scores are 700, 710, 720, then the husband's 680 score is used. It's not just your credit score that is a factor, they will also look into things such as your actual credit history, employment history and loan to value ratio. Lending standards are becoming more strict.
  2. Thanks for the replies! Here are all the cards I have. An * indicates which ones I want to increase. I also included my current balance and credit limit. * B of A * Citibank * Citibank (Sears Mastercard) B of A (AAA card) Macy's Chase Discover 1 Discover 2 Wamu 1 (formerly Providian) Wamu 2 (formerly a Providian ebay card)
  3. Over the past 2 years, I've increased my fico score to 702. In this span, only 2 out of my 10 open cards increased my credit limit. I'm planning on requesting a credit limit increase on a few cards to lower my debt to credit ratio. I only use 1 card for purchases and pay it off every month. The rest are just being paid down or are already paid off. Will I take a temporary hit to my score because of the credit inquiries? If yes, about how much will my score go down and how long will it take to get back to over 700? Is this a bad thing to do? Thanks for your help!
  4. After marriage will the couples' credit history be merged? Specifically: 1) Will my debt to credit ratio be calculated by combining my credit with my wife's credit? 2) If my wife opens a new credit card account, will this ding my credit history? Any other useful info is appreciated. Thanks!
