  1. Thanks!
  2. My girl's identity was stolen by an ex-co-worker in another state. This person has been opening all kinds of credit accounts, utility bills, cell phones etc with my girl's identity. I advised her to freeze her credit with all bureaus and file a police report. She is in Philly while the ex worker is in Houston. We have the the person's name and address and are in the process of getting information to prove it is her commiting these crimes. I will like to know what we can do in the meantime to prevent her from opening any new accounts or inquiries. Eventually we will like to sue this crazy person for stress caused by this situation. Can we sue her here in Philly even though the crime is being commited in Houston? My girl is in medical school now in philly and has been too tied up with schoolwork to fly back to Houston to rectify this issue. All credit inquires and unauthorized account have severly hurt my girlfriend's credit. Will the police report be sufficient to clear her credit from all unauthorized accounts and inquiries? Please pardon my typos, using my phone to type this msg.
  3. I've been looking at a couple of banks and at this point, I really don't care who I go with as long as it's 0% balance transfer for the next 12-15 mths. I don't plan on ever using the card and will probably pay it off by April next year. Do you think this strategy( i.e. open new card, don't put any charges, pay off balance then cancel card.) will greatly affect my scores? I'm 690-707. I plan on purchasing a home next summer.
  4. I have $8700 balance on a $10000 credit card (5% promotion till Sept; 15% Fixed APR) with US AIrways. I received a letter from them stating that they were going to transfer my card to a Mastercard with Barclays Bank at 12%variable. My original plan was to pay off BOA card by Sept but now I really don't have that choice because of this switch. I want to open a new card, transfer the balance @ 0% for 12mths APR, pay off the $8700, then cancel the card. Will this greatly affect my credit score?

  6. Again, thanks for your help. I think I'll do option #1.
  7. Thanks, but doesn't this method contradict what you said earlier about 35% utilization BTW, I apologize for the multiple threads.
  8. Ok thanks. That's $5K one time payment to each card right? Once I do that, I plan on paying $300-$500 per card per month until pay off the balance on each card.
  9. $10000 Limit on each card
  10. Here's my situation. I have two cards with $8500 balance each and I have $10000 that I will like to put towards both cards. I'm doing this to boost my credit score (currently 690s-708s). Should I pay $5000 one time on each card or pay $1300/month for 3 months on each card? Which of these methods will boost my score faster? Card A has 5% APR until November 2009, then reverts to $15%. Card B has 8.5% APR life time. Thanks!
