I have one late on my credit report. The original bank that issued my credit card was bought by another bank and the new bank did not notify me that they weren't going to be transferring the automatic payment info I had set up with the original bank, so this caused one of my payments to be 30 days late. Since this late wasn't my fault I have disputed it with the bureaus and the new bank, but they have not removed it. I have never made a late payment in my life, but this one late has lowered my score so much that I won't be able to get approved for anything. I'm willing to try and pay anything to get this late removed, so should my first step be to hire an attorney? Or should I offer to pay off my entire balance (3k) in exchange for removal? Would it be ridiculous to send chocolates from Godiva to the dispute dept address? Like I said, I'm willing to try anything. I just want to get this inaccurate late removed. It seems so unfair that it wasn't my fault I was late and now I'll be penalized for 7 years.

I recently had a credit card issuer put an inaccurate late payment on my credit report. I have tried disputing it with both the creditor and credit bureaus with no success. My last resort is to hire an attorney, but that will be pricey, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it. I have never made a late payment in my life, but this one late on my credit report has lowered my score at myfico to 605, which pretty much means I couldn't get approved for anything. At creditsecure my scores range from 680-690, which are fair scores. If the 605 at myfico is the more accurate score, it would definitely be worth it for me to hire an attorney to try and get this late removed. Which have you found to be more accurate?

One of my credit card accounts was recently bought by another bank. I had automatic payments set up on this account, but my automatic payment information was not transferred to the new bank. I didn't even find out about the transfer until I noticed my monthly payments were not being debited from my bank account. By this time my payment was over 30 days late. This is showing up on my credit report as a negative and has brought my score down so much it's now considered poor. I have never had a negative on my report before, so it was always considered good. I will be disputing this with the 3 bureaus and then with the bank that reported the negative, but if they won't remove it I want to know what my other options are. Should I offer to pay off my full balance (a little over 2k) in exchange for the bank removing this negative? Or would I be better off using that money to hire an attorney? I don't care what it costs. This one negative is going to end up costing me thousands in higher interest rate loans. Hopefully the bureaus will remove this negative, but I want to be prepared if they don't.

I know this has been discussed numerous times, but after reading all the posts on this, there seems to be a lot of conflicting info. Some people say they use a mailbox rental company as their business address with no problems and others say many creditors red flag these addresses and not to use them. Right now I'm paying $120 a month for a virtual address, but I'm trying to cut back costs while still building my business credit. I don't want to use my home address because I'm already using that for another business. Do you think changing my address to a mailbox rental address would hurt my ability to get business credit?

Like everyone else, I am very upset that my Discover and Capital One biz cards have started reporting to personal. This has really hurt my credit to debt ratio and lowered my score. I'm going to be applying for a new auto loan in a few months and am a little nervous that my high utilization might prevent me from getting the loan, or if I do get it, it will be at a higher interest rate. My question is, there's no way for someone pulling my credit to be able to tell that those 2 account are biz debt, right? I thought the high utilization might not be a big deal if the company pulling my report knew that debt was for biz expenses, and I wasn't just living above my means. Would it be feasible for me to call both companies and ask them to send me something stating that this is business credit, and I could show that to the loan company?

I just incorporated a new business last year. I recently got a DUNS number, and made my first Net 30 purchase from Quill. A few days ago, I received an e-mail from someone at D&B saying that many changes need to be made to my report if I want a company report, and not just a listing in their database. They said there is a process to get me verified and would be fees involved. They also said my report is in incomplete status right now. I've read numerous times on these boards that D&B always tries to sell you things you don't need, but has anyone had a rep tell them this?

How to get listed in 411 with a PBX 800 number?

Thank you for the very useful info! -
I incorporated a business back in May, and I need to get listed in 411. I have a PBX 800 number with Ring Central. I've read that you need to get listed at yellowpages.com in order to be listed with 411. I was just speaking with someone from yellowpages.com who said that I couldn't get a free listing. They said it would cost $50 a month to advertise there. They also said it probably wouldn't be listed at 411 since it isn't a landline. It looks like many people in this forum are using cell or PBX numbers for their business, so how did you manage to get listed with 411?

Around 6-8 weeks ago, I removed my father as an authorized user on one of my credit cards. The 7k balance on this card is still showing up on his credit report at two of the bureaus (EX & TU). I called the credit card company around 2 weeks ago, and they told me to give it more time for the balance to stop reporting. My father would like to refinance his house, but he really needs a small bump in his score to qualify for a better rate. Should he just keep waiting, or is there something he can do to speed this up? Perhaps contacting EX and TU? Thanks for any responses.

I was hoping someone could answer this question for me. I know that around 1/3rd of your credit score depends on your credit-to-debt ratio, but I don't know if that means on each individual credit card, or for all of your credit card debt as a whole. I'm asking because when I pull my credit report using CreditSecure, the only thing lowering my credit score is: "At least 1 or more of your accounts has a balance that is close to your credit limit, which may be lowering your score. When your balance is high, this can indicate to lenders that you are likely to overextend yourself." Does this mean that once 1 credit card account has a balance that is close to the limit, you're score has taken the hit, and additional high utilization cards won't lower it more? Or does each high utilization card impact your score?

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed here. I searched through the old posts, but couldn't find the answer. I'm going to be getting a business checking account, but would prefer to do everything online, instead of having to go into a branch. I was thinking of going with National City, and was wondering if anyone has a business checking account with them, and if you needed to go into a branch? Is so, any other bank recommendations? Thanks for any answers.
