Thanks. Her credit history is under the 3 rule(only about a year worth) will that hurt the chances or help since it'll be another income source? Thanks
-
I would. The other loan is the vehicle my wife drives.
-
Thanks Would a lower utilization on the cards help out with keeping the open loan and getting the other car as well?
-
Also, done app on lunch and misread the part about being upside down on the loan, I thought it said "Owe On Loan" so the actual upside down amount is "0"

New Vehicle Situation & Maybe Refinancing Current Vehicle?
92GreenGT replied to 92GreenGT's topic in Automotive Financing
I think after much thought I'm going to try Alliant before I try anything else when the time comes. I've got a couple CC bills that I want paid off before I embark on getting this car. I currently owe $9400 on that Altima, do you see any advantage/disadvantage on me trying to refinance that thing for a better rate or would it affect my chance of getting the Mustang? Thanks -
New Vehicle Situation & Maybe Refinancing Current Vehicle?

Thanks for the reply. Would you try a CU before you hit a local bank? The bank I currently have the first loan through seems to be pretty good but I'm not sure of how low of a interest rate they would give me. Should I stick with a 60 month loan or would you go 72(if possible) and try to pay it off sooner? Being that I'm looking at a used vehicle, I figured I could come out cheaper by buying off an individual instead of a dealership. Opinions? -Edit- FWIW, I'm trying to keep it in the 380-420 range on payments. Altima is currently is $325 a month on 48 months, just looking to save the most money over a long term thing and that's why I'm here asking advice from you all!!! I don't want to do something that's going to knock me out of getting the loan for the mustang by trying to lower the payment on the Altima(if that makes sense, lol) Also, I hate to ask so many questions in one post but I have a CC through Alliant CU(online) but I'm not a member of any local CU's, would I be better off going to a local CU or trying to apply for a loan through the Alliant CU? -
Hello, I've got a couple of questions: In September of 2009 I purchased in my name, a car(2006 Nissan Altima) for my gf at the time(now my wife) to drive. I got it in my name only without a cosigner or a down payment. It was my first large purchase I had ever done. My FICO at that time was 718-719 and I got the loan on a 10% interest rate. Would it be beneficial for me to refinance this car now with both of our names to try and find a lower interest rate? Or should I leave it the way it is because of my following situation/question.... Around March of 2012 I'm looking to get a used 2011 Mustang GT for myself to drive since as stated above I let my wife drive the Altima and I'm looking at getting a newer car to drive so this is my plan. Looking to have a down payment of 2-4k(depending on price of car at the time) and was wondering what to look out for or shoot for in terms of acceptable APR's for someone with my current level of FICO/Credit History. I haven't done a FICO in awhile but I should be around the same 720 area as before with perfect history, I do have some revolving credit that has balances that I'm going to get paid down before I go after this car to obviously try and boost my score as much as possible. Would be getting the car in both my wife and my name. We have CU's and banks around that I want to do some checking at both to see what gives the best rate but I'm not sure how I go about it. Do you find xx car that you would be interested in and go talk to the loan manager about getting pre-approved and do they tell you about the APR's you're qualified for or what? Don't want to have anything near the Altima rate because that just won't fly. Thanks for any help/advice you can give me on either/both situations. Thanks

Now that I think of it, I have another question: My Cap1 card is actually coming up for the annual fee this month sometime. Should I eat it this year and this cancel it next year or will no significance happen from letting it go another year?

Sorry for the long time to reply guys, I've been really busy lately and honestly forgot about making this thread. Answers to some questions: 1. My highest limit is a Discover card for 2grand 2. My mix of cards include: Marathon Gas Card, Cap1 Card, Discover and a Alliant Credit Union Card 3. I do have a loan on my wifes 2006 Nissan Altima(in my name) that I got without a cosigner or anything, I believe the loan was for $13,000 I think I want to cancel the card when it comes up for the annual fee. I'd love to get a 5k or more limit card but I seem to be capped at 2k for now. Thanks for the help.

Thanks. Any other suggestions?

Hello, Have a question regarding my cap1 card, it was the first ever card I got so it wasn't very good at all. $50 annual fee and a $250 credit limit, they ended up giving me a CLI to $500 two-three years ago and have denied me for a CLI ever since. Last time I pulled my credit score on FICO it was 719, everything is perfect and the main thing that's hurting me is my short credit history length(3 years on this very card). My question is, can I transfer(correct term I hope?) this account to a better card from cap1? I don't want to lose my history with this card because it's my longest running card. Is a good suggestion to apply for a new card now since it's been sometime and pay this one off and eat the annual fee or is there something like this I can do to get out of the annual fee and keep my history with it? Thank you

Hello, I recently joined Alliant Credit Union and got a savings account and a Visa card through them. I did not get a checking account from them since I already have one other checking account and one other savings account. I've realized after I done this that you can't do online bill pay without having a checking account through them. Anyways, I used the card last month for a balance of $28 and I still haven't received anything in the mail on how to pay the dang thing. It reported to my credit with the balance being shown of $28, will they ever send me a statement in the mail so I can send them a check or what? I don't want to get a bad hit on my credit over $28 that I can't really pay. They also sent me a letter stating I tried to get a $1000 loan through them and they declined me when I never even touched a loan form of any sort. No idea what that was about though, I've had odd issues with Alliant so far but I really wish they would update their site. Thanks!

Installment Loan Advice/Impact On Credit Score
92GreenGT replied to 92GreenGT's topic in Credit Forum
Ok, I plan on paying it off in June. Today I go to the bank to pay my March payment. Should I pay multiple payments as in, take in multiple tickets out of the payment book and pay like that or would I just go in with the March ticket and pay $500 instead of the $120? Sorry I'm a n00b but this is my first installment loan, lol. Thanks guys.
