Two years ago...my credit was tanked. Several charge offs and collections. I joined CB and followed the steps to clean up my credit. I established new credit (in the form of credit cards.) I had been monitoring my score through MyFico and for the longest time my mid score was stuck at 619. I had paid both card balances down and while one was reporting, the other hadn't (giving me the 619). This past weekend I got an alert that my card was reporting a lower balance so off to MyFico I go and my mid score has gone up to 635. So i went to my morgage broker to inquire about refininancing my house. He pulled my credit and his showed Exp 688, Trans 647 (mid score) and equifax 618. I was preapproved for a refinance at 4.99% and have a 30-day lock on the rate. I just hope this process goes by fast and painless. But considering exactly two years ago today, my middle score was a 480, I figure I have come a long way. I just didn't know there would be a difference in the MyFico scores and the ones that a mortgage broker uses. It did work out in my favor though.

OK, I had an open auto loan since January 2005. I had 5 lates on this account the last one being in June of 2008. After that been paid on time since. The vehicle was totaled and the insurance company paid capital one off. On my credit report how will they show the closure of the account (ex. closed by consumer, closed by grantor)? Also, since june of 2008 I have had 2 credit cards with perfect payment history. My mid score is at 620 now (up from 480 2 years ago). I don't have any other open trade lines and a few collections that are approximately 4-6 years old that had been paid. What can I expect with the closure of the capital one account, would my score tank for not having an open auto loan or can I expect a boost? Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

I will be soon going for a FHA refinance. Do the same down payment requirements apply for a refi as they do for an original mortgage or is a down payment necessary when refinancing?

Get ready to have a fight on your hands. My wife went through a similar issue last year when we were trying to get a mortgage. Underwriter had up pay off the old Target Charge Off. When we called targer, we were told they no longer had access to her account and to send a check to the Collection Agency. Well I called them and got the balance and address and sent payment. A few days later after the check cleared, I called the collection agency to get a letter stating it had been paid in full. They said they received and cashed the check but still havent credited my account. I needed to talk to Target National Bank. I called them, they said that they had no record of payment and I needed to talk to the Collection Agency. This went on for several days until I finally had enough and sat down and typed. I refered to the fact that "somebody" had 375.00 of my money, and were not crediting my account for the payment. I sent the letter CMRRR and referenced that they have until the business the day after they receive my letter to type up and send me a receipt or I was going to go to the local authorities. We got a call later that day and said the matter was cleared up and her reports reflected that a few weeks later. That got my blood pressure up just reliving it. My problem was nobody would tell me where the money went. The check was cashed but nobody had the money LOL.

On the 4th of September I paid an old AT&T balance off. The account had been disconnected but not yet sent to a collection agency. The customer service rep asked if I was interested in turning my internet service back on. She said they would have to create another account and I asked if they would have to run my credit. She said they would so I told her no thanks, I'm not interested. I finished paying on my account and verified again that no credit inquiry was done and she confirmed this. Fast forward to the 8th of September, I pull my credit report and voila, AT&T is listed as pulling a hard inquiry on the 4th. Being as I had an account with them previously would this constitute a PP to pull a hard inquiry. Second question is if they are in the wrong, what is an address I can send a PP letter to. I located an address of 208 S. Akard St in Dallas TX but not sure how legit that is. I do notice AT&T is quiet on their physical addresses.

Our problem has grown in the last few days. My wife called to verify the zero balance for her account. She was told the balance still stands at $378 but they show a payment received in that amount. When asked why the account wasn't credited, the only answer they can come up with is "The account is locked out, you need to contact RJM" Well when we contact RJM they tell me that Target hasn't told them anything about the payment being made, they still show the balance is at $378 and to contact Target. I have faxed and sent by snail mail to RJM the proof of payment. I have sent to Target by snail mail the proof because the "very polite" customer service rep advised me they don't have FAX machines. So far my letter writing campaign has done nothing. I am calling every day and asking to speak with management. There has to be somebody that can access an account that has been charged off. They didn't mind accessing when we called to get the balance to send them a check but now they claim they don't. So as it stands now, they have $378 dollars of mine, haven't credited her account, let the collections agency know about the payment, have done nothing. Does anyone know of any agencies (BBB, AG's office) that may be able to assist us in this situation?

Did you receive any letters from the CA reference to this account? Have you DV'ed them yet?

Baby steps will add up to a marathon...trust me. First step is to delete all old addresses and name variations. Sometimes the only thing keeping an old derogatory account on there is an old address. If the old address isn't there, they can't match the account. BTW, following the suggestions of the fine folks here, my credit has come up from TU 512 EQ 475 and EXP 523 and now my scores are TU 582 and EQ 548. You will have some down moments where something didn't work as expected but the good moments when you get that boost in score more than makes up for it. I hope you luck in your attempt to clean it up. My didn't get bad overnight and it will get cleaned overnight, just remember.

I guess I need to call the OC and inform them we are still getting letters from RJM and to please inform them that the debt has been paid.

My wife had a credit card go to collections with RJM Acquisitions. She had forgotten about the account until she saw the OC line on her report. RJM was not reporting at the time. She immediately paid the OC off and has the cancelled check to prove it. Today she received a letter from RJM saying if she paid her bill today that she could take her choice of any number of gifts they were offering. What do you think if we call them up and say "Hey, we just got your letter but we already paid the OC...but those gifts, can we still get one of those?"

I'm not sure if that is correct. If it is, sounds good to me. I have a bunch of medical collections that are showing on my report as negatives.

I'll send for the paper copies and bump this thread back with what the paper ones show. Thanks

It's not the paper copy but it's not the anual report either. I guess i need to see what the paper copy shows first right?

I have a collection (Palisades) tradeline that is reporting on my Equifax as an account under "other" accounts. It's not in the "collection" area. It is also reporting a high credit amount when they have never extended "credit" to me and under type of loan it shows them as a facotring company. Am i receiving a benefit score wise or report wise for it reporting this way or would it be better in the collections area?

I would write a letter back to them explaining they had enough information to insert the item onto my credit report, therefore they have enough information to prove that it is mine and that the original 30 day time limit stands. Hold onto both letters. After 30 days, send the 2nd DV. After the time limit on the 2nd DV, I would dispute the account with the CRA's and include a copy of all letters, as well as a copy of your CMRRR showing when they got the letters.
