  1. Lol, thanks! Wasn't really me, it was my Boyfriend, but none the less. Anyway, paying off a chunk of the cards DEFINITELY helped up the score quickly. Now if we can just get MINE up... K
  2. My BF just paid down $5000 on his various cards and his scores have gone from a 595 (Experian) to a 649. And his other scores which we didn't check before are a 684 and 613. BUT - the 613 is TU which does not yet show that his Household card is paid. Hopefully the others will be enough to get us a decent mortgage rate. K
  3. If it is incorrect - wrong name, wrong account #, etc...but the OTHER data is correct...what happens then? Do they correct it and you are back where you were at the start? Or do they just delete?
  4. Couple questions about this. Should I send this with a return receipt or just normal? Can having THOSE addresses removed in ANY way initially lower your credit? My BF is buying a house and closes in 6 weeks. He has all kinds of weird names on his CR, but I don't want us to do anything that will potentially harm his credit. Oh - and since he is moving in 6 weeks, and thus his addy will change again, should we just wait to do this? Thanks!
  5. I have been advised on this forum to use this method. NOTHING on my report is within 30 days. Little of it is within 2 years. I have a few old collections mentioned on my reports. Some of them are paid. Should I do this with those? Some, I KNOW I paid but are marked unpaid. Others, I know NOTHING about, and never received ANY information about. So - Do I do the 1 2 punch with this, or know? And what about Charge Offs? I am just getting so confused. I guess I don't understand well enough yet, because I read something, then I read something else, and I feel like they contradict. Or maybe I am just confused;) Well, DEFINITELY I am confused. And beating myself up for not paying closer attention while this was going on! Kimberly
  6. So even though I PAID it I can dispute as not mine? ANd even though it was mine (or at least close to being mine - I never actually checked to see if the amounts were correct, I just ignored and then paid)? Do I dispute to CRA, CA, OC? Sorry, I am in the initial confused by TMI period!
  7. I have a couple of old (3-4 years) paid credit agencies. On one report they are listed as paid, on the other 2 they are unpaid. 1) how do I get them marked paid? Would that help my score? Or do I want to try to get them taken off altogether? And if so do I contact the CA, the CRA, the OC? ThankS!
  8. Last fall I started receivng cllections notices for a cell account that had closed over a year before. THere was no reason for that bill, but instead of dealing with it, I paid it ($75). Ok, stupid, but whatever. Is there anything I can do now to get that old (but not too old) collection off my report?
  9. I am not any help, I just started this ridiculous process...BUT - can I do a little EXP vent? I went to myfico to download my reports. I was not validated for 2 of them. For TU b/c (this is what the lady claims when I called) the address I put as my LAST address wasn't real. That is the house I lived in from the time I was 4 until I was 21. So, I had to come up with other addresses (ended up being my dads). THEN - I got validated went to chec it...y "current address" shows as the 4-21 address. WTH??? Exp won't let me validate at all. I have to wait 7 days. The reason I can't validate is that I said I do not live on Graduation Drive. Well - I don't, and NEVER have. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT!!! She said it's there and there's nothing I can do. Thanks for letting my hijac your thread and vent!
  10. How do I opt out? Thanks!
  11. In check my credit report (well one of them so far) I found 2 unpaid items I didn't know I had. One is for something that I do remember, but thought I had paid off. The other I don't have a clue what it was for. These are events that took place in my 18-19 year old, I have no clue what I am doing bu give me a credit card phase. Account Name: CREDIT COLL/USA Account Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX Account Type: Collection Department / Agency / Attorney Type of Business: Other Collection Agencies Terms: Unknown Account Status: Closed Monthly Payment: $0 Date Open: Nov, 2000 Balance: $50 Balance Date: Dec 16, 2000 High Balance: Not reported Credit Limit/Orig. Amt.: $50 Past Due: $50 Remarks: Not reported Payment Status: Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department AND Account Name: WFNNB/VICTORIAS SECRET Account Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX Account Type: Revolving Charge Account Type of Business: Miscellaneous Department And Variety Stores Terms: Revolving Account Status: Closed Monthly Payment: $0 Date Open: Aug, 2000 Balance: $134 Balance Date: May 27, 2004 (???) High Balance: $146 Credit Limit/Orig. Amt.: Not reported Past Due: $0 Remarks: Not reported Payment Status: Charge-off So - where should I start with these. The amts are low, so I can pay them if that is best, or...? Also - how do I find out Addresses, Phone numbers, etc for these CAs? Or do I go through the CRA? I am sorry if I seem slow, I swear I read the newbie stuff, but I am still confused! Thanks! Kimberly
  12. Butting in cause I have the same question. So thanks for the answer! But - I am confused on a couple of things. I have ben reading alot but am new to this, so some terms still confuse me. Verifying v. Validating? DV? Thanks!
  13. bump - I'd love more advice
  14. Wow - this is confusing! Thanks for your help though:) Ok - 1st some closed accounts say: Remarks: Credit line closed-grantor request-reported by subscriber Payment Status: Paid satisfactorily Is that + or - or...? Then the aid past dues say: Not reported Payment Status: Paid, was a collection account, insurance claim or government claim or was terminated for default and Paid, was a charge-off Then the current past dues say: Account Status: Closed Monthly Payment: $0 Date Open: Aug, 2000 Balance: $134 Balance Date: May 27, 2004 High Balance: $146 Credit Limit/Orig. Amt.: Not reported Past Due: $0 Remarks: Not reported Payment Status: Charge-off and Account Status: Closed Monthly Payment: $0 Date Open: Nov, 2000 Balance: $50 Balance Date: Dec 16, 2000 High Balance: Not reported Credit Limit/Orig. Amt.: $50 Past Due: $50 Remarks: Not reported Payment Status: Seriously past due date / assigned to attorney, collection agency, or credit grantor's internal collection department And to think I thought I didn't owe anything. Now I know $184 isn't that much...but still! I guess it's good I did this. PLus the report has 3 addresses: current, past, unheard of (could one of these past dues be related to that address? how do I find out?) Wow - I am going to have to go do searches now that I know all this is going on. But it helps to write it down - and I appreciate anything anyone tells me! Oh - and I found out I have 2 credit cards out there, open that I had no idea about. Hmmm...THAT'S what you get for moving every year for 6 years while you are in school! K
  15. Ok, after I get the address (and my former address?) taken off the report...do I dispute those things that are marked as unpaid? What can I do about the paid balances that include 90 days late, etc. Those "gracious letters" or whatnot that I have read about? Or...? Thanks!
