  1. Hey Everyone when I was 16/17 the neighbors down stairs somehow used my name and opened up various accounts. I didnt learn of this until I was in college and had it all resolved. I have a police report to prove everything as well. Low and behold I get a nasty call from Allied interstate being extra rude. I tried to explain to them but they were like you should just pay it anyway. I hold them I was not paying a thing but how do I reslove this? They said dont send them the police report. BTW this was from 2000 and it has never shown up on any credit report otherwise I would have taken care of this a long time ago when this orginally happened.
  2. My short sale tale I started my short sale journey in Feb 2008. I looked at several places and then I walked into my home. I knew it was mine from the moment I walked in. It also looked out of my price range. My realtor said do you want the good or the bad news. I took the bad news first. She told me it was a short sale and it could take up to 4 months to get a answer. I had a lease on my apartment until June. I went ahead and made an offer. Within two days the seller agreed and all we needed was approval from the bank. We waited and waited still nothing. The property was owned by country wide that just went under and bank of America was now in control. I now have a personal dislike for bank of America because of this mess. They lost my paper work 3 different times and had to reopen my case. It was June now and I had no place to go. I didn’t want to lease another apartment because my realtor felt that we were getting close so I opted to save some money and move in with my aunt and uncle. I lost all privacy and still miserable but the condo kept me focused. In November the note on the Condo gets sold once again to another mortgage company in CT. This mortgage company actually knows what they are doing and does appraisal finally. But of course the appraisal came in way to high so they want more money. Sigh.. Its only 80 more a month but it frustrates me. I walked out the bank today with my approval letter and closing date of Feb 26th. It took me a year to buy a condo. Was it worth it? No, I will never buy a short sale again. It’s a emotional stressful process that I wouldn’t wish on no one. I can’t wait to start remodeling Tell me if you can see the pics
  3. So since March I have been waiting on a answer for a short sell property. The owner agreeded but I'm still waiting on the bank. The loan started off with country wide then bank of America and now it's with McCue Mortage in ( CT) I knew short sales could take long but I'm so frustrated at this point it's not even funny. I have looked at over 30 other properties but only one other I made a bid on, which was accpeted but FHA does not give loans to condos that have law suits pending. Apparently this new bank is better dealing at short sales because it's a smaller family owned type of mortage place big in the new england area. I guess I just came here to vent. I guess everything happens for a reason right?
  4. So I have been looking around for a while for my first purchase. Well, I found it today It's a short sale priced at 114,000 I offered 95,000 I'm really excited but I know there is a chance the bank will say no. Oh I have been pre-apporoved and all that good stuff but I heard this process is long. My question is how long is to long to wait? I can wait up to five months then I will have to move on to something else because I won't qualify for the tax credit.
  5. Actually in CT the prices have really drop. 170,000 homes are going for 110,000. Only in the rural areas which is what I'm looking at anyway. I'm looking at homes around 115,000 and going in real low. Thanks for the advice Flower!! I knew about the tax credit which put the icing on the cake to finally get my own place. I also do alot of Mystery shopping/promo modeling/auditing too So my salalry is a bit more than orginally posted. I'm just trying to be conserative with the amount I will be able to afford each month.
  6. Hello Everyone This is my first post by the way but I have been lurking for 2years now. I'm seriously thiking about buying my first condo or small house. Let me give you some background info. Credit scores 745, 737, 733 Debt 25k student loans undergrad (currently in Grad school but employer pays for that) Car payment 319 a month for 4 more years Credit card debt less than $300 Cell phone 53 Car insurance 100 Cable/internet 75 electricity 150 My Salary 42,000 Single, no kids and mid twenties. I don't want to spend more than 80,000 might go 90,000 if the home feels right. I have 10,000 to put down as a down payment. Overall, I don't want to spend more than $700 including taxes, insurance, and condo fees. Does this seem realistic? Any advice is welcomed. I also plan to get a roommate no matter what but I want to be to pay by myself in case something happens. I currently pay 675 for a two bedroom apartment. I have a roommate now so I really only pay around 400 because my room is bigger. Next week I plan to go to a few banks to get a pre approval letter.
