So I have a question on high utilization. Is it better on your credit score to pay your balances off or pay it down (to 30%)? And does anyone know how much it raises your score if you do so? Thank you in advance!

Sk8terChick, Just wondering how you got the defaulted HDMC biz account off your personal credit files. I'm currently going through the same thing. I have a defaulted HDMC biz account from 2005 that I did not PG on, and its a CA from LVNV. They started reporting in October of 2010, I didn't notice it until now, when I pulled my credit recently. I'm trying to buy a house and this is putting me in a tough situation. Advice please.

Shouldn't it have the same account number at least? They're showing as different account numbers

So on my quest for cleaning up my credit, I found two entries on my reports - both are for the same account, both have different balances, and it's the Original Creditor and the Collection Agency reporting. Is this even legal? Do I DV both? Advice please.

So I know the credit bureaus used to have a link where if you were denied credit, were unemployed or denied employment, you could obtain a free credit report. I don't see that on any of the two sites (Experian & Equifax). TU still has a link up and you can get a free report. Does anyone know if the two (EX and EQ) still offer that? Or am I missing something here? Thanks in advance!

Thanks again for the information. I looked up the UCC in my state (CA) and rights of third parties. I was able to pull this up: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=com&group=09001-10000&file=9401-9409 I don't understand it all, all seems so foreign to me, can someone please explain in English? Sorry, but I'm eager to get this off my report, I am trying to purchase a home and LVNV just hit me with this on my credit report.

It's listed in my credit report as COMM - for commercial. Thank you, I'll look it up.

Hi guys, I was wondering if I could get any help here removing a default business account that is appearing on my personal credit report. The account was with HDMC back in 2005 for a CL of 3k, I didn't PG on it, and its now been sold to LVNV. It's appearing on my credit report and hurting my scores tremendously. I'm trying to buy a house. Does anyone have any idea how to get this removed? Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I'm still trying to figure out a strategy. Also, what happened to the business credit forum and the sample letters? I noticed it's gone, or did it move somewhere?
