Does anyone have a contact number for Penney's? I called the number on the card but it's an automated cli deal. I have had the card since Oct. 07 and use it and pay it faithfully. They sent me a letter that they increased my cl from the original $150.00 to $300.00. I tried the cli via the auto system but it said "sorry, not at this time". I'd really like it to be a bit more, maybe $500.00 and wondered if anyone has had luck with this or has a contact number for a live person. Thanks CB!

I just called them again to make sure, after what ZeroDebt posted. They are 2 separate accounts, different account numbers, the Freedom has a 14.99 APR from the start, the other has 0% APR until 12/20/09. So it sounds like 2 separate unrelated accounts, as far as I can tell. He said one is a Chase Visa and the other a Chase Freedom.

I posted earlier this week about how I'd called my local banker to see if Chase would ever increase my $400.00 Freedom card which I've had for a year. I've called a time or two to the 800 number and been declined. She said she'd look at my account and see if there were any offers, and lo and behold, she said I had 2 offers. She said I had one for a new Freedom card for $4000.00! Yeah! Of course I told her to accept it. 0% APR for 6 months, then 7.99% thereafter. She said it's usually easier to just get a new card than to get an increase on the old one (sounds like CapOne). Well, today I got my mail, and there was the beautiful Freedom w/$4,000.00 and another envelope that felt like a credit card from the same address, and there was a Chase Visa inside with another $4,000.00. Two separate account numbers. I don't know what specific card this other Visa is, it's silver with the Chase name and logo on it. So I called and had them activated and I am so happy! Scores are all low 600's with a few old collections.

We currently have an auto loan with CapOne, one of those pre-approved write your own check deals. We've had it 2 years this coming October. We've since cleaned our credit up quite a bit, gotten a mortgage (FHA) and several prime credit cards. I don't know our scores a/o today, but last month they were all around 610-625. I'm trying to see about getting a lower interest rate and called Chase today (where we bank and have our mortgage) and she checked NADA/Blue Book to make sure we were not upside down, as she said they won't refinance if that's the case, and we're not. She did say that Chase is not the easiest place to get an auto loan, so rather than risk a credit pull or my time, can anyone offer any suggestions who I might try with? I've never refinanced before, but money's money and I want to save wherever I can. Thanks for your opinions!

Woo-Hoo! I'm liking CapOne more and more. Congrats~ -
A little background: I started banking w/Chase about 2 years ago, standard savings and checking, nothing fancy, no large amounts in either. Last summer the girl I deal with said we should try for a mortgage, and didn't feel "credit ready" but she suggested FHA, got approved within 24 hours, found a house, everything was great! That same day last summer I told her we'd love a Freedon card, she went online and I got one for $400.00 but I was just thrilled to get the mortgage and the Freedom card in one shot, although the cl was low. I've called once or twice to the 800 number to see about a cli over the past year, always a no go. Today I figured I'd call my gal at the local branch and ask her about a cli. She looked on the computer and lo and behold, she said we have a pre-approval for another Chase Freedon for $4000.00! Woo-Hoo! I was so excited. She said we could try and get a cli on the other one, or just have 2 cards, and rather than tempt fate, I said we'll take the new one. She said I should have the cards in a few days. I'm not even going to call and ask for a cli at activation, I'm just happy as heck for what we got!!! So maybe it pays to deal local, I don't know, but I'm happy!

I signed up for a free 7 day trial of Privacy Matters 123 (privacymatters123.com) and wondered if these scores are accurate? It shows my reports and scores from all 3 CRA's and I like the way it's layed out, etc., but don't want to go beyond the free trial if it's not really going to be accurate and help me. Thanks!

We purchased our home (thanks, CB!) in late July 2007. We went FHA with Chase and were more than pleased with everything. I posted my GFE at the time and it got the thumbs up from the board. Our interest rate at the time was 6.875. Lately I keep getting postcards in the mail (not from Chase though) regarding doing FHA streamline. Honestly, I'm not even sure what this is, but any opportunity to save money is worth looking at. Is this something that would lower my interest rate? Is it a pain to go through? This is our first home and it took alot of hard work getting to this point, but we are very content. We love the house and I don't ever want to move or go through the stress of waiting for that closing day to finally be over! Thanks as always for any input

I applied on line and got the $100.00 card. Oh well, at least I got it! I read in the credit pulls that some people called the number (not sure which number) and answered "the security question" (again, not sure what this means) and got it up to $400.00 right away. I called and they said after 90 days of use I'd be eligible. Any words of wisdom to get it up a bit now or do I need to wait? Thanks!

Well, we closed at 9:00 this morning, as scheduled. It took only 45 minutes start to finish. We only had to bring $899.34 to the table (after paying $1,000 earnest money, $395.00 application fee and $295.00 for the inspection). Then we got back $555.00, so not bad at all. Now I have extra money and I'll spend a little on new things fo the house and save the rest for future house needs. We went FHA through Chase Bank and the interest rate was as expected, 6.875. Everyone was so nice and they seemed truly happy for us. The sellers were wonderful and shared answers to all of our questions. Now I'd better get busy packing! We get the keys this Sunday morning (sellers house isn't quite ready, so that was the agreed upon date from the start). Thank you CB~my banker told everyone at the table that I knew more about FHA and the home buying process than anyone he'd ever dealt with and I have you all to thank. It was a very stressful 6 weeks from start to finish, because I was so afraid something would go wrong, but honestly, the entire process went off without a hitch. Thank you all for the advice and for posting all of your own stories/questions. I couldn't have done it without you! Oh, and I did get a nifty portfolio/folder with my realtor's logo on it and a pen from the title company we held the closing at, so hey, it was all worth it! Ha-Ha!

Closing Monday and don't yet know how much $ to close!
dreamsoffreedom replied to dreamsoffreedom's topic in Mortgages
Thank you Brian for your reassuring post! Maybe I can sleep tonight -
We are scheduled to close Monday 7/16 at 9:00 am. I assume a cashier's check is the preferred way to present funds, and I wanted to get the check tomorrow. I called my banker and he's all calm, cool and collected, "Everything's fine, the package is in closing (I guess that's a dept.?), which is where we want it to be. I might here this afternoon, otherwise should be first thing in the morning. Don't worry..." Is this normal? I am so freaked out, I'm snapping at everyone, can't eat, too stressed to sleep. Someone reassure me that this is okay. Gosh, I will be so glad when this is over, and it'll probably seem funny to me then that I've been so worked up, but right now I fail to see the humor! Thanks, CB!

Hang in there! I'm glad I'm not alone in this feeling of fear/dread/anxiety. I wish I could be excited, but I've been a nervous wreck since we made the offer on Memorial Day and we don't close until July 16! I've lost 8 pounds and I keep waking up at night...I wish I could go into a self-induced coma and wake up July 17! My REA called today and the seller needs 1-2 days more days for their move, and they want to know if we'll allow it and will pay us $150.00 per day. I was so disappointed, but I said ok, because "one good turn deserves another", but that means putting off moving for us another week, because we can only do it on a weekend because of our jobs. I know it'll be worth it in the end, but I swear, I've been through alot of hard times, but this has got to be the most nerve-wracking experience ever . I just noticed a message on my cell phone from my lender (Chase) and he said "Hello! This is so-and-so, give me a call back anytime." My stomach lurched when I heard it, but he sounded real upbeat, so it's either no big deal or he's disguising the fear in his voice because he's going to tell me our loan just fell through. See how paranoid I've become? I don't have the nerve to call him back tonight, I'm still pouting about having to put off the date of occupancy. Good luck to everyone in this "waiting" position!

I've had perfect payment on everything the last 2 years and seen my scores rise nicely. Made my last car payment and it turned out it was more than what I thought (due to old late payments/interest), so now it's reporting 30 days and DH and I both lost anywhere from 45-70 points almost across the board of all 3 CRA's. My TU however, went up 10 points...go figure! Anyway, car loan people said they'd remove it and I called them today and they're not showing 30 days past due and said they report between the 26th and 30th. Two questions...should I DV the CRA's to get it off any quicker, or just leave it come off by the end of the month? Lastly, will my scores go back to what they were assuming everything else stays the same, or does that do damage that takes months to gain back, even if it disappears? Thanks CB!
