  1. Has anyone ever heard of or used TDECU merchant lending? We are looking at financing thru them for a replacement central air and heat unit and inside air handler for 4600.00. I've looked online and can't find what kind of interest rate they have on them. The business we're applying thru didn't have a whole lot of info on it as they just started using it. They usually go thru GE Money bank but I didn't want to go thru them as we already have an auto loan financed by TDECU thats almost paid off.
  2. Is there a sample letter to send to CA's to cease contact via phone calls? I tried searching..but couldn't find what I'm looking for...
  3. Great Saria! I will look forward to what you find out! Thanks!
  4. I pulled my free credit report last night just curious what was showing on my credit. It only gave me experian for the the free trial...but I have only three negatives on my credit. There are no judgments, bk's, foreclosures, or repos and the student loan is not showing on there at all. Is that the norm after so many years? So, just so I'm understanding this...I already know about the rehab part. But on this direct loan website...how does that work exactly? If I go that route I mean. Is it faster to have it cleared up to current/bringing it out of default that way?? Or should I just do the rehab since its only one loan I'm dealing with?? Sorry, just want to be clear on this before I move further on it.
  5. I went to the NSLDS site and pulled up what I could find. It was a Stafford Subsidized loan back in may 1992. I made payments on and off till 1997(used deferment a few times in between). The loan amount was 2625.00, says outstanding principal balance is 3080.00 as of 6/2009. Outstanding interest balance is 2287.00 as of 6/2009 and says its a fixed interest rate, but doesn't say the percentage. At the bottom of the paper for the Contact information, it says "This loan has been transferred to the Debt Collection Service of the department of Education. For answers to questions concerning this aid please contact the service at 1-800-621-3115." Do does that mean its been sold to a CA or does the DoE still have this loan?? I went to the direct loans website and it asked who the lender was...but i don't have that info. I want to call the number tomorrow..but scared to wake a sleeping dog in other words. Our income tax will be direct deposited on the 16th....so I guess I'm afraid by calling, they make take it upon themselves to somehow keep our income tax. Can they do that just by me calling and trying to get this all straightened out?
  6. Okay, will request for this to be moved...I didn't see a student loan section...did I miss it? How do you consolidate a loan..if you only have one loan? Don't you have to have more than one loan to consolidate it?
  7. I am in default on a Stafford student loan from 1993 for 2650.00 or something close to that. Haven't heard a peep from them about this loan since 2000. Well, I'm wanting to go back to school this summer and applied for financial aid and it came back that I qualify for 976.00 in pell grant, BUT I must clear up the "default" status on my loan before I can recieve any financial aid. I know it won't happen overnight unless I pay it in full..but I don't have the funds to pay in full right now. How do I go about contacting them to make payment arrangements? If I understand correctly, I will have to make six consecutive payments ON TIME before they will move to process the default status to current and that can take up to a year to do. I'm okay with that...I really need to get that default off my credit and pay off the loan anyhow. Its hurting my credit really badly anyhow. Has anyone ever had a defaulted student loan and succesfully gone back in to repayment status? Are the payments expensive? I don't want them to be really high that I can't afford them. Will there be any interest added on to the balance? All the financial aid site showed was what the loan was for...I'm sure there will be interest added on. Julie

  9. We were have a lot of financial difficulty and fell behind on Valero. We actually owe 281.00 for the pay off. Dh called them to let them know we could do 1/2 of the balance this coming week and the other half the following week. They said our card has been closed or something...he couldn't remember what they said exactly. But the guy told dh that after the balance is paid, the card would be sent in for reconsideration to reopen. Has this ever happened to anyone with Valero? He said they would probably approve the reopening..but I'm not holding my breath on what "someone" says over the phone. We were 60 days late on a payment.
  10. Wouldn't it be a good idea to just call them yourself first early this am to ask them if they will forgive the late fee? Also, I don't think you want the late fee to show up on your credit report. Also, why don't you want to continue paying them small amounts consistently? Good luck. I did end up calling them myself...even though its dh's account only. I didn't think they would talk to me since its his account, but they did and she took off one late fee for 30.00, which was better than nothing at all. I hate making the small payments with them, it seems like it NEVER goes down. I think I will do 100.00 payments until its paid for. 15.00 month...hell..we'll be paying for it for 10 years at that rate for a 300.00 balance!!! LOL
  11. We've been under a financial strain for almost 2 months. I went out to get a part time job to help us out and I was making payments online today for the start of the month. Orchard is due today, so I need to pay the 12.95 rush fee to make the payment show on my account today or late fees will apply again. GRRRRR I couldn't make the whole payment last month, so of course...our payment is really high this month and I don't want late fees applied again. I have until 11:59am to make the rush payment online today for it to post today. My question is this...can dh call them and ask for a break on the late fees? That would lower our payment due today, I need to pay 136.xx today. But its gonna be really tight to do to avoid another late fee tacked on. ugh. We should be able to stay caught up..and I'm planning on using my checks to just pay off the cards since their all fairly small balances(orchard is 412.00--we're 100.00 over the limit due to them tacking on the late fees...go figure). Has anyone ever asked them to forgive late fees in hardship circumstances before? Do they work with you? Don't want to lose the card just yet...really want to pay the darn thing off and sock drawer it away...which it is already since it has no available credit on it anyhow. Need a response ASAP please before I hit the submit payment button on them.
  12. Dh had short paychecks the last few weeks due to bad weather out here and he is our only income. Our van payment is due by tomorrow or it will be 30days late, but I plan on making that payment today so we don't get a 30day late on his credit. Then we can make the next payment by next week. Regional called me on MY cell phone...now remember, this is under dh's name, not mine and I'm not even listed on the account for them to have permission to talk to me. Everytime I have called them before to discuss the account for some reason...they give me the same run around that dh has to fax them a letter giving them permission to discuss his account with me...BUT...when I am the one calling in the payment each month..they have no problem talking to me. Go figure! So, SOMEHOW they got my cell number...I never gave it to them and never gave them dh's cell or work number either..just home phone. I answer it as it shows as a long distance number not a toll free number. A lady asked for dh...but they have been working nearly 16hr days this week to make up for all the hours they have lost each week and to catch up on work that they fell behind in. Then she asks if I am Julie, his wife. I agree and she goes on to tell me that we had just gotten a deferrment in May and that should have helped us out and we should have been able to stay caught up. This was our conversation: me: yes, but things happen and with bad weather and where he works..they had many rain out days this summer and it has hurt us, but we're trying to keep up and still paying on everything. We're hoping to be caught up on everything soon. her: Mrs. Carrasco, do you work? me: depends what you consider work...I'm a stay at home mom...so yes I work..but I don't get a paycheck. her: well, your account will be 30 days past due on the 26th and we need a payment. me: yes, I know..he gets paid tomorrow and I plan on making a payment tomorrow and another next week. (why I continued this conversation is beyond me...guess I wanted to torture myself) her: we would like to have a payment today if possible. don't you have family you can borrow from? me: no...we do not borrow from family ever. One of us would have to be in jail for that to happen. her: can I ask why he is late on his payment? me: (i explain to her about the weather and what he does for a living and that with the little check he got last week, we had to make our house payment and pay the electric bill and buy gas and groceries. her: well, how delinquent were you on your mortgage? me: I don't think thats any of your business. her: Well, if you weren't delinquent...you should have made the car payment instead. me: Uhm..yeah...but the mortgage is under my inlaws name as its THEIR house we're buying...so we don't want to screw up their credit either. Again..remind me WHY THIS IS ANY CONCERN OF YOURS????!!!! her: I'm just trying to understand why he's late and can't make the payments. me: My God woman...he's not even 30 days late YET....never have been! Look at our records....you will see that we've cut it close a few times..but never been 30 days late....even on his credit reports...it shows a good payment history with no lates. Can YOU tell ME why we're even discussing his account? I'm not even listed on his account with permission to discuss this now that I think about it? So how late are you on your payments? Do you even WORK or do you just have a JOB? with that I hung up on her. I was so livid by that time. Dh is still scratching his head over it. I went online and posted a payment to be made today on our account just because I'm too p*ssed to call them to make it. Can I block them from my cell? Sorry that was long...I basically wanted to know how long regional acceptance waits on missed payments before they threaten reposession or actually do it. She makes it sound like if we don't make the payment, they'll reposess on us for being 30 days late. The van will be paid off Nov. 2008, we only owe little over 6,000.00 on it. If we had the money to pay it off early, we would..but with all our other payments and grocery bill now that the kids are home for the summer...the grocery bill alone each week cuts into our pockets deeply at 120.00 a week. Can't wait till school starts back up so it will go down some. We haven't gone on a vacation or anything this summer either..just can't afford it with trying to keep up with payments on past short checks. I've even looked for night time work..but we're in a one red light town and theres just no one hiring here...and to work out of town and have to pay for a babysitter isn't feasible..most of my check at minimum wage would go to babysitting for 3 kids and my gas. Not worth it in the end if all I can contribute out of a check is 50.00.
  13. We had the 30 day free trial with them LAST summer...then they just charged us a whopping amount to continue the subscription after NOT notifying us last year! So I kept them for the year..but have only used scorewatch maybe a total of 3 times the whole past year. I haven't checked scorewatch in over 3 months so dh called and cancelled with them and then read those emails from them and checked my account and whammo...14.28 three times pulled from my account. Debit cards are bad..but as many stores that are turning electronic checking anyhow..I just can't stand giving them one of my blank checks to print on and then I just sign a reciept and then they hand me back my voided check and my reciept. What a waste of buying checks. So its easier for me to use my debit card for my checking account since I don't carry cash on me for grocery shopping and such. Hopefully dh can get ahold of them on his break tomorrow and cancel this crap and get a refund. I'm calling my bank tomorrow too about blocking them and truecredit too. Dh cancelled truecredit last month...so far, they haven't charged us.
  14. this is one of the three emails we got: (what TICKS me off is they renewed it on the 1st!!!! and we just now got the emails????? WTF????: Dear John, Your account (4XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) was debited in the amount of $14.28 and your FICO® Standard - Equifax (Score Power®) subscription was successfully renewed on 6/1/2007. If you have any questions, please call myFICO Customer Service at 1-800-319-4433 Monday - Friday 6:00AM - 6:00PM or Saturday 7:00AM - 4:00PM PST. Thank you for choosing myFICO - we appreciate your business. Sincerely, myFICO Customer Service
  15. OKAY...does myfico.com NOT email you PRIOR to debiting your account for renewing your subscription???? I have gone thru ALL my emails and not once did they email anything: not "your subscription is almost up" or "renew your subscription now"....NOTHING. But...they sent an email today..three of them actually today that "your subscription was successfully renewed with equifax, or experian, or transunion" And checking my checking account...they took out 14.28 for each one! Why don't they give you a heads up????? This p*sses me off so bad. I almost didn't have enough to cover them! They left me 7.08 in my account until tomorrow and if I hadn't made a small deposit yesterday to hold us over till dh's paycheck goes in tomorrow...I would have been charged 25.00 a pop for insufficient funds because of their failure to "NOTIFY" me of them debiting my account!!! So....can I still call them and demand a refund since they failed to notify us that they were renewing our subscription for another year without even ASKING if we wanted to?????? Seems most places at least give you a day or two notice to cancel and if they don't hear from you, will go ahead and renew it...but they give nothing. I want my 42.84 BACK in my account!!!!!
