  1. We are in Missouri. My significant other is working his way through a load of debt left from the ending of his last marriage. He has eliminated and IRS debt, has a payment plan for his state taxes which will be paid in full in a few months and also a plan for the arrearage on his child support. He also has the following debts. A couple of them he has received offers to settle a few months ago, but did not have the cash do to so. At this point, he has about $3,000 saved plus his mother told him she will give him $10,000 to put toward the debt pay off. We are wondering what order to pay these in, the best way to go about paying them, and anything we should be concerned about. I have tried to figure the SOL on each one, but there are a few I am unsure of so they have ? in that column. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If any of the info is incorrect, feel free to point it out to me. The original creditor is in bold. Most have gone to collections. He has no judgments, but does have a tax lien for the state taxes. It is not so much the credit score that is important to us, but rather just the peace of mind in knowing the debts are paid and no one will be coming after him for them. Radiological Assoc. 2. I did not know that. This is all new to me so I appreciate you being willing to give me the basics of info. In spite of reading a lot on this site, I still have lots of questions. Does that mean that the UCC SOL overrides my state's SOL? My state is Missouri.
  3. I read about it on the sticky. He has not applied for any credit since he purchased the car in 06 that was repo'd in 07 and doesn''t have any intention of applying for any in the near future. Does that make a difference?
  4. So, would it be okay to go after the ones he could actually pay one at a time? Most have been sent to another agency. How would we know if they are "junk" agencies? There are 2 that are high enough balances that he most likely cannot may them immediately. One is a car repo and the other is a water purification system for a house that went to his ex along with the debt, but she is not paying for it and the home was forclosed on. Thanks for any help. He wants to clean this up, but in a way that won't place him in a worse position as right now there are no judgments against him and actually there has been no contact from collection agencies in a long time.
  5. I have a few basic questions. 1) What if you have no judgments, several accounts that are in default, and most, if not all of those accounts are still within your state's SOL? Should you begin this process or hold off til all of them are outside the SOL? 2) What chance is there that starting this process with debts still inside the SOL that any that you are not able to take care of (or get a settlement on and pay) will then file suit? We want to get started on the clean up, but also do not want to set something in motion that will end up worse than when we began. Any help is greatly appreciated.
