Okay today I received a court summons for roughly $3500 in school loans from the NY Attorney Generals Office. After researching, this is the law firm summoning me to court also "http://www.schwartzlf.com/". They want me to respond within the next 20 days. This is the first time this has happened to me and for me to go to court so I am very nervous and scared. So I really need help in wondering what I can do now. First things first is that I'm only 19 and I am unemployed about to go back to school to either a community college or Job Corp this September? The reason why I have that loan is because I used to be in a University but I was stupid and immature and wasn't able to succeed in school. I had to leave school due to personal family issues I had. Now after a year break, I have decided to go back to school as I have become a little more mature. However now this issue happens and I'm scared in what to do. As I stated earlier that I am indeed unemployed but that isn't my only issue, the court that they summoned me too is about 3 hours away from where I live which is NYC to Albany and I don't have a car nor my family is willingly going to drive me there as I don't have the best parents in the world but I can't go into much details about that topic so I'll just leave it at that. Anyways I need help and advice on what to do now as I have no money nor transportation to pay the debt and to travel 3 hours to court and 3 hours back home. However I am going back to school or Job Corp but I doubt that will help with my college debt/loan. I know that I do not have a legal reason why I don't owe the debt and that being unemployed with no money to pay back the loan or planning on going back to school are NOT legal reasons. I also know that I'll likely lose in court but I just need help with what will probably happen after losing in court and what my options are as of today as this is my first time getting a court summons and I am very scared and nervous. Also these loans to my knowledge are federally backed school loans as the court summons was from the Attorney Generals office and a law firm as well as stated above. I guess in the end I just need some help/advice in what I can do now with my situations and problems and what will happen after I lose my court case which I think will probably happen?
