I was at that site last night and even filled out the application, which then referred me to Chase. They are no longer accepting new applicants. The same goes for the list at the bottom, with the exception of Wells Fargo. I did read about using a Home Equity loan to consolidate to lock in an interest rate. My credit is average, about 650 - 690ish. BUT, can I really do that... I mean, it seems that any Home Equity lender will not supply a loan if they know it will be used to consolidate private student loans.
Also, I can swing payments on these loans individually for the time being (living very meagerly). I start ATC in April and will be fully certified in about 2 years. So my income at that point will be in the six figures based on the facility I was chosen for. So, would it be better to consolidate then, when I have a larger income to supplement and (hopefully) an improved credit score in the 700's? Or can I consolidate private loans more than once?
I have never defaulted on my loans and make around $3300/month after taxes at this point in my life. Based on that, it will be hard, but I think it is manageable as long as I keep focused.
Thanks again!
