  1. Hi all, big time lurker on here first time poster. Hoping to get some advice on a game plan and see what anyone thought. BK7 discharge July 2013, have one CC from Cap1 (the Quicksilver, not secured 500 limit, just went from 300 to 500 about 2 months ago) and have a secured loan I am paying off that is at the 800 balance mark ona 1500 secured loan. Both trade lines are 6 months old. I'm working to use my VA to get a home loan hopefully at the year mark this July. I was told that because my bk7 was medically related that I "could" be considered at the year mark, so I'm working for that. 610 EX score on USAA CRMP. One of the problems is the low credit limit (so the factors that lower my score page says). I'm thinking of applying but want some advice. Is it a good idea 2 months because potentially working towards a house? What cards so you think given my situation. Looks to be approved so I want to be cautious about who I apply with. I was thinking Barclaycard Mastercard and/or apple card... I hear their bk friendly after 6 months. Was also thinking a Shell drive for 5 gas card. Hear thats easy enough to get and I generally get tons off my Shell gas (use that saver discount card thing they offer). So I know thats a long read, sorry about that folks. Any advice? Should I wait? Should I apply and continue to increase cards. etc. Thanks!
  2. I have this state tax lien from awhile ago in California, it's been paid and taken care of years ago. But while I'm trying to clean up my credit report after BK7 I wanted to see how I could tackle this also. What would be the proper way to dispute it off? I've tried a bunch of things with no success other than it comes back "verified". Thanks for any input!! Here is a screen shot of how it reports on Exp http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/845/cococounty.jpg/
  3. Good morning SBA. I live in California. And I honestly cant remember the last payment made. It was for a VERY VERY old account that I disputed the original company off my report. Its been maybe about 5 years from last payment with original company.
  4. ive rented a car with mine and no it doesn't report as a secured card. hope this helps
  5. Good morning all CBers out there and happy new year. So im in the process of cleaning my credit report and one of my early mistakes was to pay a collection account when they said they would remove it completely from my credit report without getting that in writing (I know, I've learned to get it in writing since then and have). Anyways Midland Credit Management is reporting on my report that their collection account from 2009 has one month term and comments Account in dispute-reported by subscriber with a KD on Experian and Account information disputed by consumer under comments on TransUnion with no terms nothing else and nothing reported Equifax. I have tried disputing with the CRA and just a "verified" letter back. Any ideas on how to tackle this? I want to have my credit cleaned for a house in the next year or two so I am pretty headstrong to get these corrected. Thanks for any advice everyone!
  6. If your talking about the AAFES star card it worked for me. It took 4 emails and about 9 months to get fixed. I just explained I was stuck in reclass and didn't realize it was 30 past due, the day I found out when I finished reclass I paid. They updated and removed my 30 day late on my credit report. They will do it, it just might take a few emails over a few months.
  7. Good morning and happy new years CBer's out there! I'd like to say thank you to each and every one of you. Ive been a reader on here for awhile and it's helped greatly in aiding to clean up my credit. I started a year ago with no credit cards and a 509 credit score. I am currently sitting with a 651 credit score, 1 secured cap one, and 2 navy fed unsecured and a navchec. Long way in a year and its all from reading the great advice on here. Well now its time for me to finally post because I've hit a road block on clean up. Independent Financial has not responded to any of my mailed (I did CMRRR) requests to validate. I have disputed with Equifax and all I get is a simple validation, the standard we don't want to research but were just going to say it belongs to you with no proof letter back. What should be my next step with this? I did save the certified mail and delivery tracking from USPS site so I am covered there. Below is what I sent to Independent Financial. On a side note I have a CreditOne Bank account that is still now almost 9 years later. What can I do here? Ive disputed with TU and I get nothing useful from them. Thank you for any advice and help everyone!! 8. And forgot to mention I'm in California if that matters in the way I have to deal with them. Thanks
  9. Hello, Im in the process cleaning my credit report up and having a problem with 2 collection accounts that I just cant seem to get removed. Seeing if anyone would have any additional info or insight on how I can tackle these. The first one is with Arrow Financial Services. I've paid the account and was told the would remove it from my credit (yes I know I should have gotten that in writing before I paid it. I know that now going forward lol). Well I've tried disputing it with the CRA for validation no luck there; I just get the canned typical "its validated" response or the "we need more info to validate this" response. I have tried a validation with Arrow and no luck, I've disputed the account as listed as incorrect (notice the term is 1mo on a collection account, the payment history on a CA not a revolving live of credit), no luck there. Most times I get no response, others I get "it is listed as being correct to the CRA" and it's updated as "account in dispute by consumer". Does anyone have any suggestions on this one? The second medical that didn't get paid on time by my insurance. Has now been taken care of to the hospital, not the collection agency but they wont budge until they get paid since the hospital cant recall it. Any way to just dispute this away? Thanks for any input guys. You guys rock and I've learned so much being here. I was able to get a 1 car loan, 1 over-draft LOC, 3 unsecured cards since I've been watching and reading the forums. Again thanks for all the info and knowledge out there. On a side note I can't get over the 590 mark. Does anyone think making these go away might help any? I've been paying everything and can't seem to get back the 590 mark for the life of me (on the USAA credit site, Im not sure if thats a real FICO or the fake FICO). http://i55.tinypic.com/330785w.png http://i52.tinypic.com/34xnt3s.png
  10. are you a full member? Yes. USAA offers a secured Amex?? When did that start? Im a full member with a secured MC with them, wondering about applying for the secured Amex. Does anyone have any info on this?
  11. I've tried to find out my calling and sending a message on the site, I've gotten the same response twice so I'm not sure what the plan is with it at the year mark. If anyone has had success let me know. ---------- Dear Corporal *****, Thank you for your e-mail regarding your credit card account. At this time there is not a specific time period for when your account may be converted to a regular credit card account. If this option becomes available in the future, we will notify you. We value your business and the opportunity to serve all your financial needs. Thank you, NAME NAME USAA
  12. I have nothing in writing from them. I pulled my report before I saw creditboards and found out about PFD and letters and everything. This was just one of the first I saw, and paid thinking thats how it worked.
  13. I'm having a problem with a collection account on my report that was listed with arrow financial services. When I first started cleaning up my credit report and knew about PFD and all that good stuff, I paid this account was told by the rep on the phone they would remove it. I was stupid and didn't get it in writing before I paid it. So I called about 3 months later asked why it was still there and was told they will not remove it, I asked for a supervisor and she checked the account said my SSN was incorrect and should not have paid it (but she copied it wrong, they one they have is correct). She then said I was lying trying to claim it as fraud (I did no such thing, after I started talking with her I gave her my SSN she said it was listed different, 10 minutes later she said I gave it wrong and tried to misrepresent myself, I know my SSN and did no such thing). I sent a letter about a month ago no reply stating all this and the rep's name the caused this hassle to their CEO and still no reply. I don't know how to get them to do what they said they would to have me pay it. I did notice though on my credit report the agency is posting all the wrong info so does that help my case at all to get it removed? It was "opened" on 8/1/2006 and it's being reported as a line of credit on EX that was 30 days late in March, and a term of one month. EQ is reporting is as a high limit of $418 and perfect payment history (on a collection account?!?) since it was opened on 8/1/2006 but also as an open account status and the status note is "At least 120 days or more than four payments past due" on an account they report as current. It seems that since I called and called their bluff to remove it and escalated it, that they are punishing me by reporting it as incorrect as they can. If it helps I've already tried to dispute it with the CRA and it was verified and listed as "Account information disputed by consumer". Any advice would be great guys. Thanks so much for the help! You guys rock!
  14. does anyone know if usaa actually will review the card to possibly have it unsecured? ive had mine since sept of last year and wondering if it actually will be unsecured. or if there a number that i can ask to have it reviewed earlier? ive tried calling and all i get it the canned typical response. thanks
