so basically we've established that you, personally, have no use for an NPSL Amex. but as for the title of your thread, there are lots of reasons to get one. I meant why not use a debit card (or a check) on a VERY large purchase if my discover can't handle it. ( I guess points would be nice on a large purchase). I don't think I'd have that limit on the amex anyways. (110K combined income) and if it's digital theft, that doesn't rule out my bank account being swiped clean, not sure how AMEX is going to help that. having amex doesn't guarantee ur bank account will be cleaned out. perhaps if I changed my lifestyle spending habits and start racking up points, it can be beneficial. Would be afraid if I put everything on AMEX and some life emergency comes, and the money in my bank account is gone, I'm left with a huge bill from amex and no way of clearing it out. still debt until you pay it off at the end of month.

to give you a real answer. you don't use a debit card because: 1) no points/rewards 2) no automatic warranty extension/insurance and other benefits 3) no debit card is going to allow 50-100k+ transactions that some people need 4) somebody steals your card and drains your bank account and you're SOL potentially for weeks until it gets straightened out Thank you for the serious answer. 1) no points/rewards I use discover for anything point related 2) no automatic warranty extension/insurance and other benefits Discover offers all of these 3) no debit card is going to allow 50-100k+ transactions that some people need Never have I made a purchase that large, and the rare instance I do, I'd use a check I guess 4) somebody steals your card and drains your bank account and you're SOL potentially for weeks until it gets straightened out if my card is stolen, my wallet probably is along with the AMEX goes the debit card. and having an amex doesn't mean my debit card will never ever be in jeopardy (but i'm sure chances are less) Perhaps if I get the system down and can do the gas/groceries with 2x points, but that's the only benefit I see and perhaps the prestig not sure why people laughed. I came here to ask a question and apparently made some people laugh, had I known the answers, I wouldn't have come here to ask.e Thanks to those who were helpful, and those that weren't, choke on a d**k

Then, AMEX NPSL is not for you. I spend a 1000s of $$$ a Month, using the AMEX NPSL and I am very happy with it. I don't have to worry about how much credit I have left or what my limit is.. Then why don't you just use ur debit card linked to your account? You either pay it now, or you pay it all at once at the end of the month. That's the *other* part I don't understand with the NPSL.

Why not just use a debit card and have it directly come out of the account? (not sure if a debit card has a preset limit, I think it does at 4K or something)

what is D* and NPSL?

I got an officer from AMEX for a green charge card... I never really understood the point of the charge card and it got me curious, so I did a little research... after my research here I am... I still don't get it. so I get this charge card that I can put things like gas, maybe house rent, couple purchases like cameras, phones etc on it then at the end of the month, I pay it off... How is that any different compared to me putting all that stuff on my discover card then paying it all off at the end of the month? I get all the benefits of extended warranty, purchase protection, return guarantee, reward points etc on the discover (or any other reputable visa/mc CC) so why get a card and force myself to pay everything off at the end of the month, whereas with the discover I have the option (we always pay our discover in full, but in case of an emergency, we can make few payments to clear it) any help in this matter? The only thing I can imagine with amex is the 'prestige' which I really don't care for. not to mention AMEX does have a spending limit based on your average spending habits afaik.

very ODD and ANNOYING! Too bad none of these places take dispute calls on weekends
-
Thanks guys. When you dispute online, do they just take your information and go look at it later? or will the rep on the phone look at the account in question and see what I'm talking about?

I have an account I haven't used since 2005. Never touched it, and haven't gotten in the mail for it in ages. Looking at my TU, this is what I see: Now, I haven't used this account, but if you look at the trend. it looks like I've been making payments? (the OKs) and from 12/12 to 4/13 it shows late payments? It's not making sense. This has been inactive and closed (hence the remarks) since '05. It's an obsolete account and I want it removed. How do I tackle it? I'm not sure if obsolete will work since it shows like payments are being made? Thanks!

good way to word for CRAs on deleting obsolete account?
razorseal replied to razorseal's topic in Credit Forum
Oh, that's a good one thanks. I was writing a letter, but perhaps I'll just call them. -
I have couple accounts that are now obsolete (coming up on 7 year mark) and want to send letters to CRAs so they can delete them... Just not sure how to word it correctly. any help? This is the format that I did for my letter (besides my other pertinent information on top)

They're coming up within the next few months. I saw here from my research that you should start the filing for it 6 months ahead as it takes some time.
-
I could, but I thought these things should be done on paper. I don't have a problem reporting them online. Faster and easier I suppose.

Hello everyone, Can someone provide me with a sample letter to send out 3 CRAs to get these obsolete items removed from my credit which are due to fall off within the next few to several months? FYI, here they are... This first account was closed around march 2007, which I guess it's due to close on 3/14 This one is coming off 11/14 And this one 6/14 Any pointers on how to do it properly? am I sending this just to the 3 CRAs, or do I mail it to collection agencies as well? Thanks!

Thanks... I guess it's clear to start disputing the one account that is due to be obsolete in march now? we're 2 months away from it. I think I'll start a new thread as it has taken a new course and a solution has been found. thanks everyone!
