Hi there I was wondering if you could help me?
My mom just recently passed away in October leaving behind nothing but a few small credit card debts. Sense then Ive been receiving letters and calls from this particular place stating that i as executor of the "estate" am liable for the balance. As far as i know I am suppose to send a death certificate along with proof that there is no actual estate. This seemed to work for the most part excluding a few inquiry's about it for almost all of the different places except this one. Ive gone though sending a death certificate 3 times so far and the only response i receive is more collection calls/letters. Ive tryed to call the number listed in the letter 866-768-5813 to only get a machine with a few options revolving around make a payment or set up a payment plan. The only time I'm able to get to talk to someone is when they call my house. They go though a lot of questions mostly going back to you can settle the debt by paying it off. From there i try getting it though to them that I'm aware I'm not liable for the debt and they tell me to send a copy of the death certificate to there fax number that doesn't seem to actually go though. the process just starts all over from there. I'm at my wits end I was wondering if the above steps would work for my situation or is there additional steps i should take to clear this up.
Thanks in advance for the help
