Ready.... Set......GO!

:yahoo:

So far for 2013 January I am committing to:

1) logging food and exercise on MFP, good or bad

2) completing a 30/30 Hooping challenge (30 minutes of hula hooping a day, every day in January), and

3) weighing ONLY twice a week, Mondays and Fridays.

No weight loss goal. I know if I do those three things (for starters), weight loss will follow. Whether I lose one pound a week or three is ultimately out of my control - my body will do what it does, depending on what I do for it. So I'm going to focus on my actions, and consistency.

I lost 20 pounds in 2012 and went down to 170 pounds. I fast walk/jog on the treadmill for 30 minutes a day 5 days per week. My wife and I also drink our breakfast. We juice carrot/spinach/flax seed/blueberries/apple in our NutriBullet. It makes for a really healthy start to the day and is really filling.

Year 2012 was all about losing some weight and keeping it off and I did a good job at it.

Lost 6.5 lbs in the year which means I did not put any more pounds.

I still have another 10 lbs to lose and be done with my weight loss program. Just maintaining for a year or 2, before trying to lose few more lbs.

One thing I did for 2011 and 2012 was to keep track of what I am eating, even when eating bad food or way over the calorie goal. I logged 540 days consecutively on MFP.

I would like to continue logging my food journal, lose the 10 lbs and maintain it for the rest of the year.

I started to have big cravings for desert in 2012 and I would like to clamp it down a bit.

That is all.

I'm aiming for a marathon PR in the spring, followed by a late spring ultra marathon (yikes).

And tons and tons of fun running stupid things the rest of the time

I'm in.

I am going to stop smoking....well, take up vaping full time and no more ciggies....eventually cutting nic down to 0.

I have a goal of losing 50 lbs @ 1 lb per week. I think that is doable without being overly harsh, diet-wise. No fad diets. just getting rid of the sodas and junk food and upping the veggies.

I will be walking regularly.

I'm totally in! Actually, I started August 19th 2012 after being diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes. 50 pounds down since then, 100 total from my highest. Still have quite a bit to go, but I'm doing it! I'm planning on doing the 3 day walk for breast cancer (3 days, 20 miles per day) by next year. I plan on kicking butt!

Posted

Congrats to everyone who is in kicking butt again!

51 pounds gone. Boom, take that Oprah...:P

This year's goal is not necessarily weight loss, but getting stronger and leaner and more toned. Not setting a weight loss goal, lord knows my flowers won't ever fit a 2 again, but if I feel good in my clothes, and my butt and legs, and arms look pretty decent, I will be happy. I am doing some shakes and some supplements, along with lean proteins, veggies, complex carbs and exercise of course. I am shooting for more balanced nutrition, and not overloading on the protein, and cutting other areas, which was what I was doing there for a while.

Good luck to everyone and keep us all updated, its good to keep each other motivated and support one another! :clapping:

I've been working on losing weight since Sep '12 and I've lost 34lbs since then. I have about another 86lbs to go for a total of 120lbs to lose!

Anyway this is probably the hardest yet most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. I'm joining weight watchers for the second time to keep me on track.

I work out about 3-4 days a week at the gym and eat pretty healthy. I want to train for a 5K in March!!

Good luck to all!!

I am the lamest lame ever. I did NOTHING in january, truly, besides a couple of races for fun (a full and 2 halfs, in 8 days). They were leisurely and I'm not sure they even count :(

I went back on my training plan last week, and it's like I am starting from zero. Blech. Lazy sucks.

Weighed in on a body comp scale this weekend. Down 5 percent body fat YAY me, must be from the lifting and weight training I am doing. Because the only cardio I am doing is the treadmill(at an incline) and elliptical. And my muscle mass went up 3 percent, only lost 6 pounds. But that's okay by me since the muscle mass is increasing.

Anyone have any updates, I am excited to hear them?

My update is that I hate morning running.

I haven't weighed myself in a billion days.

I weigh mostly to see where I have improved as far as body comp. I'm not so much obsessed with the weight anymore..LOL.

I would love to start running. I have to find a suitable knee brace for my right knee. A friend said to try Dicks sporting goods, I just haven't gotten over there yet. But I am skinny enough now, that I can run without everything bouncing everywhere..

Still losing here. Down another 9-10 lbs. I'm finally below the weight I began my first pregnancy at...which that kid is almost 16 years old...lol. I still have a way to go, but I know I'll get there. I definitely need to up the exercise though.

I did my first 5k in August. I am down a total of 36# and 2-3 sizes. I

should add up the inches, but I haven't. I do know that since last July

I dropped 3 cup sizes and about 5 inches around the band area. :clapping:

I am doing another 5k Sunday if I can breathe again by then. I have a feeling I am getting bronchitis. :(

Goals for 2013:

Drop another 40#, run 3 5ks, drop another 2 cups, and not sure what

else right now. Trainer wants me to get involved with lifting comps but I

am not there yet. I have just started keeping track on MFP this week

(good and bad) but at least I am being honest! WW did not work too well

for me. MFP seems doable.

Congrats to everyone for meeting goals or doing things that they normally wouldn't do! That's fantastic!!

posted on the wrong thread. oops. :)

I didn't make the 5k yesterday but I have one I will be doing for sure June 1st. Hopefully another one before then though.

This morning I weighed myself for the first time since getting the plague three weeks ago. I'm back where I was Jan 1. :(

Its okay, though. I bought myself the cutest jacket for my birthday, for inspiration. :good: I want to actually be able to wear it in a couple months when golf season starts!

That's awesome! I thought you looked skinny-mini in one of your recent FB pics. Why don't you start by doing a March (St Pattys Day-themed) 5K with me?! We can probably talk buri into coming :)

Eh. I need to work out more consistently. My weight is good. Back down to my pre-Boy weight and Im happy with that. Size 8 bishes!!! Yeah!!! Another 10lbs wouldn't hurt, but I'd have no boobs left. I've really already cut out everything I can calorie wise (including my beloved beer) I just need to actually join a gym, to force myself to exercise. So in May when DS's Taekwondo contract is up we're going back to the Ymca.

Hey! I'm down 5 lbs. :yahoo:

Ok, that isn't as much as I wanted to be...but it shows that my program is working.....slowly, but it is working.

I'm doing 10,000 steps a day - striving for 20K a day....some days I get it no problem, others (like when I am stuck on the computer working on a website) I do good just to get my 10K.
I've given up sodas, except when I have a sore throat. Oatmeal for breakfast. open face peanut butter sandwich and cabbage soup for lunch, then a normal dinner. (note, the cabbage soup is not "part" of the diet...I just like it, and it adds a lot of fiber, and not completely loaded with calories).
