It may be a small victory, insignificant to many people by comparison, but to me this is a real stepping stone!

My credit has been in the crapper since the early 90s due to irresponsibility and medical bills collected from my wife's fight with cancer. We overcame that and we are now overcoming our credit problems!

I found CB a couple of years ago when I was just learning about my credit and how important it was, my average FICO was in the low 500s. A buddy of mine pushed me to start dealing with the issues that were haunting me and to find someone to "fix" it. Fortunately, I'm kindof a hands-on type of guy and I've always known that nothing is too far out of reach if you do your research and learn. So that's what I did, got on here daily and read and read and read about all the things I didn't know about credit and how to straighten out all the negatives I had collected.

I started writing letters, disputing issues and taking care of the ID Theft that I found. Slowly but surely the trade lines cleaned up, dropped off or were deleted and my score began to recover. Today I sit in the lower end of the mid-600s and on the rise. I was able to buy a new truck a few months back and today was approved for an Orchard Bank CC with a humble $320 limit. It's the first true credit card I've had in almost 20yrs and I now know how to make proper use of it and make it work for ME.

Thank you CB! I owe you a beer. <_<

Huge Congrats, However being a credit specialist for 15 years I highly recommend that you stay away from Orchard Bank as there are hidden fees. If you do stay with them, just becareful

welcome to 3 months ago. i was always more of a RAIDERS fan myself.

oh, and following me around on the boards here because you didn't like my comment in another thread probably constitutes some kind of harassment/stalking law. i'll start documenting just in case you're trying to be "clever". <_<

Congrats. While I am also trying to build my credit, I got approved for an Orchard Bank CC and i started with a $300 limit. They increased it last month for being a good customer. I use mine often. So that was a welcome notice for me. I have yet to experience hidden fee's. I hope that does not happen. Though they do bug the hell outta me by constantly calling my house, trying to offer me other products.

Getting into the 600's is a big hurdle and a major accomplishment. Bravo!

It's a particularly important hurdle because this society paints people with scores below 600 as not just subprime- but subhuman! It terrible and not fair. Some of the biggest assholes I've EVER known have high FICOs.

Now that you're in the ballpark of mid-600s it will get easier and easier. The increments of your upward score gets smaller, but the encouragement makes it less daunting.
