Well, it's not exactly a Bettie Boop card, but I thought it might stoke your interest. :D

Well, maybe AMEX will wise up and change their card...

It should say

SECURED CARD

across the top....

and make it look like it has been printed on cardboard....

;-)

BTW.. CreditOne Bank and the Visa Black Card is awful.. Stay far far away from Credit One Bank!

Johnny,

That is pretty sweet that Amex offered you their Plat card with all your secured cards and crown jewelers. Or was it your 500 tu score that peaked their interest!! Funny....

I think Barclays has the most prime cards out their:

Black Card

Ameriprise

Virgin Signature

They seem to be a good bank to me.

Not really sure I see anything there that I don't get with the Ameriprise card and I don't see everything that I already get with the AXP Platinum (or for that matter, Chase Pres Plus).

$495 Annual Fee, LMAO. The only fee I'd ever pay would be for a Secured Card. Don't really care what kind of special concierge service or airport access they give you, I wouldn't pay an annual fee to use a credit card. Let alone a $495 annual fee. With that high of an annual fee they don't even need you to use the card. They already made enough cash and profit just off that $495 AF.

But I guess this is targeted for the high rollers out there. I still wouldn't pay that fee if I made a 6 figure salary. I don't need a STATUS credit card to try and flaunt when I'm paying for stuff. Like Zippo said, sort of just cries out poser, I want attention. Look at my special carbon graphite credit card. I am like so cool now, I will be the envy of all my friends. Instead of BLACK CARD on the front, they should change it to, SPESHUL CARD. For the retards who pay that ridiculous annual fee.

On the bright side it does come with Luxury Gifts and an amazing 13.99% APR!!

Annual fees can be justified when you get enough out of the card to offset the cost of the rewards. If you don't travel much, you will never be able to justify the fee for cards like this, Pres Plus or Plat. If you do, however, travel enough, then the card more than pays for itself. The trick is in figuring out which card works best for you...

Good points, I don't travel enough to justify those types of rewards and services. But that still seems pretty steep at $500 for an annual fee. They better be giving some very nice gifts and service for that price. They state about 1% of the population would have this card. So that is about 3 million people x $495 Annual Fee = $1.5 Billion every year just in annual fees. I bet their gifts, rewards, concierge service, and airport access costs don't amount much over $100 million.

For people who use these AF type of cards, and feel they get their money worth out of them, could you not get better rewards using a different card? Possibly a good % cash back rewards card? Or are the special perks worth more than you could get using a better rewards card?

Airport club day access ranges from $25 to $45 in most US airlines. If this card can get complimentary access all the time; upgrade hierarchy benefits most of the time one travels - and if one travels more than 10 - 12 "round trips" - this card will pay off its AF. Many people I know travel every 2nd or 3rd day.

The perks are better unless you spend megabucks on a cash back card (and its not limited to xxx per yr cash back). In the case of the amex plat, you'd probably still do better with the fee and MR points.

Thanks for the information, had no clue what airport club access costs. In that case the AF can be justified fairly quickly if you travel frequently.
