If you have been actively engaged in your own credit repair for at least two months, please answer the following poll question and then attach any testimonials you are willing to release into the public domain regarding this tactic.

Thanks!

11 negs down to 6 negs.

Successfully removed late pays from CC's, 1 auto loan and my current mortgage which showed 90 day lates.

I think this is the easiest and possibly first step to take when you're getting started on your credit repair journey. Start with easy old things and work your way up. You can get several things updated with very little effort, especially if you dispute online.

12 negs (collections or chargeoffs, not to include late pays) on my report, down to 1 + 1 duplicate. 3 gone as a result of nutcase letters, the rest gone as a result of disputes.

11 negs (again just CAs or CO's) on DH's report, down to 1. All of them as a result of disputes.

My credit was a mess, post BK 7. Since December (so in about 6 months) I have had a total of 26 deletions between me and the wife, plus two record changes to "no lates". This is out of 38 disputes so far. Still working on it.

Transunion - me - 8 deletions

Transunion -wife - 4 deletions

Experian - me- 4 deletions, 1 not late

Experian - wife- 2 deletions

CSCX/Equifax - me- 6 deletions

CSc/Equifax - wife - 2 deletions 1 "not late"

These are all collections or loans.

All of my deletionos have come from disputing...no validation sent...well, once for a paid collection, but the udf for deletion crossed in the mail.

Disputes are the best and first place to start IMHO. :(

I have succesfully removed or updated 24 negative accounts from my three credit reports. Of those, one was deleted via settlement, one was deleted via validation, and 22 were removed via dispute, re-dispute, and re-re-dispute again. I have tried a few other tactics such as "nutcase" and "good will", but they didn't work.

I have learned through much trial and error that there is very little ryhme or reason as to why an account will or will not be removed via dispute. It does help a great deal to pay and close the account though. Half the battle is getting the CRA to do an actual re-investigation. If your mailed disputes are denied three or more times in a row, try an online dispute, or calling the CRA directly on the phone.

As a disabled vet, I stay at home a lot and have time on my hands. Since I cleaned out my credit report several other vets have come to me for help. So far everyone I have helped has had success with their disputes. So I think it does work pretty well even if it doesn't remove every item.

Raised my TU score by 139 points in two months by dispute and redispute. Having trouble getting rid of my chap 13 bk though as EQ says that they report 13's that are not discharged for 10 yrs not 7. Exp deleted my Bk 3 mos early by disputing online and their rule is to delete CH 13's from 6 yrs 9 mos to 7yrs. So why does EQ get the right to report these things for 10 YEARS?

When I started I had 17 derogatories inc public records. I am down to the bks and 1 pub record now.

Thank God for being able to dispute, dispute by phone and by internet.

My TU went from 571 to 708

EXP fr 624 to 686

EQ from 656 to 703

Yes, how are you getting public records deleted? I have a bkrcy that will be 10 years old in 7 months so I thought I'd just wait it out. But then, I want my old addresses deleted. If I can do that first would it be worth deleting early? Anyway, everyone, please share how you got public records deleted at the CRA's.

I disputed online one time my CH7 that was discharged in 2/03 and got it deleted from EQ and TU. Working on EX as I type. I think the state you are in makes a difference. I live in NY and our courts are really slooow to respond to anything requested from them. Rember if a CRA can't verify from the source of the info then they have to delete!

DW had about 8 baddies on each report a year and a half ago, including a state tax lien on all and a judgment on TU. Many vanished with disputes--turned tail and ran, etc., but we finished paying the judgment, compromised the tax lien and Providian/Midland, and paid two small CA matters outright. Now we're down to 3-4 on each report, with the paid judgment, paid state tax lien, and Providian/Midland being the stickiest, along with a California CA (Continental) on TU that can't validate but still shows as trying to collect something bogus for an old internet presence provider she canceled for a website she once launched. There also was a reinsertion of an old collection by a new CA that never held the debt (they just bought the database of an old CA that had been paid off) and has already agreed to delete, which has been done with EQ but not EX.

I think we'll probably be 50% effective in CHOD, probably won't lose the state tax lien or Providian. Midland may well drop off--it's off one report already. Continental will probably go as well.

The satisfaction of the judgment may go as well, it is grossly misspelled as to plaintiff, under her maiden name, and for the wrong amount and it doesn't carry her address or SSN. But we made a boo-boo early on and sent them the satisfaction. With any luck though, the plaintiff name problem will be enough, although I also have up my sleeve a cavil that the state's indexing system changed from being on a county-by-county basis to being statewide, and the plaintiff never re-recorded the judgment with the state.

Totally awesome to hear this since I disputed some court stuff this round (30 day clock is set to run out on Sun, Jan. 4th). I live in NYC, so hopefully our bogged down court system will do me some justice.

How are people getting their public records deleted? These have been the most difficult for me, actually, impossible.

This is what I did:

1. I wrote a letter and disputed all previous addresses

2. After all addresses were deleted, I then disputed on-line all tax liens and judgments.

3. Then I wrote a letter requesting deletions of all tax liens and judgments.

I was very successful deleting them all.

see example letter below:
