If you want a house dont apply for credit cards. what is your score?

Interesting you just asked. Just went to myfico to purchase Equifax score and it said my product was locked, please call this 800 number? Going to see what that's about.

hey xfazer--congrats on the progress. For all those who wish to know---how did you manage to get your BK deleted? And good luck

Thanks

Well the myfico csr told me they didn't have enough info from Equifax to determine a Fico score, then I told her I had disputed and equifax corrected errors. So I got the block off, and my score is only at 634. Then I looked a little closer at the report, and it is showing two incorrect addresses and one "really not mine" capitol one account from last month when someone elses stuff merged on my report. Everything was fixed, except these items were left.... damn. Wonder how long it will take to get that off. Considering my Equifax Score which is true to my fico, was at 463... I guess that's a pretty good jump!

The BK fell off on my initial blanket dispute. I think it may have been a fluke because the lawyer filed under Jane V. Jones (my husband's surname) and I had already sent in my social to the CRA showing my legal name as Jane V. Smith (never changed when I got married) so I think it was luck! (name inserted is an example)

You will probably have more success if you wait until you get those remaining derogs off your EQ report. Once you do, here's some cosistant EQ pullers

Target

First Tennessee

RBS Platinum, Citizen's Bank, Kroger's, Peoples Bank (all RBS cards)

GM, GM Extended Family, Union Plus, Corvette (all HSBC-do these back to back)

Pentagon Federal Credit Union (conservative but once you're in with them, they are top notch)

Digital Federal Credit Union

Orlando Federal Credit Union

GEMB store cards, SAMS, LOWES (pulled TU for me) (as someone mentioned in this thread), Meijer's MC (all GEMB)

AMEX Open Business cards

Circuit City Rewards Visa (Chase, but through a division in Georgia that used to be FNANB)

Walmart (could possibly pull EX instead, but doesn't most of the time)

TCM (services many small banks-pulled EQ for me but EX for DW)

USAA Savings Bank

Coastal Federal Credit Union

Cabela's Visa

Chase Rewards Visa (BIZ or Personal) (used to be Bank One/First USA-app still has FUSA web address-at least for DW and me, this particular one always pulled EQ-all the others pulled mostly TU)

Do these one or 2 at a time, then, either the same day or the next day, call EQ and get them investigated. Just say that you just got your report and see a new inquiry that you want investigated. They'll give you a confirmation number and it/they will be gone the next day. The go after 1 or 2 more, etc. Actually, you could try your luck with 1 or 2 now, and if you aren't successful, no harm done using this method. Hope this helps. I have all but Orlando FCU. They are suspicious of the dozens of recently opened new accounts I have on my report). I don't have a lot of EQ pulling store accounts, only Lowes, 84 Lumber, Walmart. I prefer Visa and MC accounts. In my opinion, store charge cards don't weigh as heavily on the score as credit cards. I had only Lowes opened in '98 with $4k limit back on 1-21-06. I started with what was fondly know on Creditnet as the "Household Trio", except I also applied for the Extended Family. Got them all and hit the ground running.

I'm looking for more EQ pullers myself. If anybody has suggestions, PLEASE, post them. My EQ is in the 700's and I can't find any more EQ pullers. I've only got 63 open personal accounts with limits adding up to over $500K. I NEED MORE!!!!

WOW! THANKS. Most of my big tradelines are authorized user tradelines with my dad. His credit cards Rock! Long history. The only ones I have are small potatoes (toes or tos?) anyway, I have First Premier, Orchard, etc... all under $300.00. I did know about the call back to equifax and investigate thing... I'm on top of that. As for the one derogatory I have, It was another persons Capitol One account, she had the same name as me and her stuff merged - everything was removed, except this Capitol One account, that says, Closed by consumer, pays as agrees, but was 120 days late, 60 days and 90 days a few times. However, it is closed..... and hopefully can get it off this week.

I can tell you what pulls Equifax in South Carolina for me.

AMEX Target (I have one), Citibank, HSBC, GEMB, CAP1,

Ughh!

I wish that everytime someone tells another poster to "simply call EQ and have the INQS deleted..." they would at the very least mention the risk involved!

This has been discussed many times and I know there are people who think it is no big deal. But newbies can read this and think that there are no risks involved...

Possible risks include:

FRAUD ALERT

TL not reporting

TL closed

Do you have any inquiries on EQ right now? How many are within the last 6 months? If you don't have more than say, 2 within 6 months, you could go right now to all those HSBC cards and apply. You'll probably get instant approval for at least one, if not 2. The others will probably come through for you in a couple days. And, like I said, if you do them back to back, they will all overlay and you'll still only have 1 pull showing on EQ for the 4 of them, that is, unless they changed the coding on the pulls since I got them back 26 months ago. I doubt it though. I can't wait to either get blasted for multiple pulls and declines or praise for instant approval. That's all we can do is gamble. At the time, I had 5 negative accounts showing and scores in the low 600's. Even today, I've still got 3 of those negative items on my reports but I have them drowned out with the 60+ positive accounts, plus they've aged beyond the 2 year point where they hardly affect the score now.

To Candyl,

You're absolutely right about the potential for account closure etc. My first hand experience, maybe I've just been extremely luck, has been that dozens of inquiries have been deleted and dozens of accounts remain open beyond 2 years now without incident. What do CB'ers say "YMMV" Sorry for the overenthusiatic response. I'm just trying to help, but, as you point out, I may be more hinderance than help.

To Xfazer:

The HSBC and Household cards will not pull EQ, but probably EX.

Well.... No! Just went to AMEX Delta Gold... declined. Here is the decline letter ...

Your American Express Acquisition Risk Score is too high (See below)

Your application was processed using our American Express Proprietary Acquisition Risk Scoring System which assigns a numerical value to the various items of information we consider in evaluating an application. Your application’s total score exceeded our permissible threshold for an account at this time. The reasons you did not score well compared with other applicants were:

Number, type, and recency of inquiries.

High utilization of credit lines or insufficient utilization information.

Length of time accounts have been established. Do they not take into consideration the 2 AU accounts with 3 & 5 years on them?

Amount of credit available on accounts.

And for Union Plus, which is HSBC, declined with this reason:

SERIOUS DELINQUENCY (the other girls closed, paid as agreed account I guess)

PROPORTION OF BALANCE TO LIMIT RATIO ON BANKCARD ACCOUNTS IS TOO HIGH (that's because I only got a $300 limit.... easy to max out! Do they know how much Diapers Cost!! For 2)

TOO MANY RECENTLY OPENED BANK/NATIONAL REVOLVING ACCOUNTS -> Can they seriously be talking about a measley $200 Target card I got (not showing) and their own orchard bank card? Get Real! I'm not going to ding myself back to 400's again.... I'll wait, get some utilization down first and remove that "not mine" tradeline.

Maybe I'd be better off getting a unsecured line of credit from the bank. I really am surprised Fico only gave me a 634 from a 450 - 500 range. I know I shouldn't complain.... but gosh, completely clean. BTW, I had 8 inquiries on Equifax, two were in dispute.

Xfazer,

I don't know about where you are, but here in Pa Citi ALWAYS pulled TU for DW and me. I've got 9 Citi cards and DW has 9. I did an app spree a year ago resulting in 8 TU pulls and DW did an app spree last month resulting in 8 TU pulls. All accounts approved. For me, $20Kx4 and $25KX5. DW got 1 for $12K and assorted $6.4K, $6K, and $2.8K. Others on the board and in creditpulls database have said that Citi pulled EQ for them. Again, YMMV

FYI:

I just checked True Credit. DW and I both subscribed to it when Privacy Source went monthly. DW disputed 8 EQ inq. and I disputed 13. GONE!!! Also had a couple dozen "mysteriously vanish" over the last couple of months on TU. I can't imagine why. I guess it just luck!

What is your utilization? If the $300 card is all you have, what is your balance on it? Utilization is a huge part of the Fico score.
