Can you still get sports? Like FS1 and ESPN? I'm watching NASCAR right now, and March Madness all week. If I knew how to get them some way other than cable, I'd do it. Cable is way too expensive.

The only sport I watch is Women's Tennis, but recently I've become interested in Motor Sports and Rifle Sports.

I'm freaking tired of cable television, so I'm cutting the cord Monday morning.  I'm almost 100% sure that if I wanted to find Motor Sports off-cable it wouldn't be a problem.

...but I'm afraid my news fix won't be met daily...

Supposedly according to the Disney CEO, sometime this quarter a standalone streaming subscription service will be available for all of Disney's properties - ESPN, Disney Channel, etc.

News Corp has Fox Sports Go but it is tied to a cable subscription and AFAIK, there are no plans to offer it as a standalone service

Comcast ... well what can you expect from them. Forget ever seeing NBC without a cable subscription.

I canceled cable over four years ago in CA, and we've never had it in our other house.

We have one TV in each place. The TV in Mudland flickers occasionally in the winter when TD plays games on the Xbox. The TV in CA hasn't been used in at least four years.

I don't even turn on the TV in a hotel room anymore. It never even crosses my mind.

If you want "TV" but also want to "cut the cord" you should check out Sling TV ( not SlingBox ). It lets you get live streaming channels like Fox Sports, ESPN, Lifetime, etc..

I use it occasionally as its the only way I can access BeIn Sports for the odd cup game that is not broadcast by NBC or Fox.

I'm a hardcore news junkie.  My office has a rotation of news channels, so out of four family members I suspect I'll have the hardest transition.

Sling tv has a few options, I usually go over to the local sports bar for occasions. But I lost interest in NASCAR over the last few years

I've been pretty happy with slingtv.  You can get fs1, espn, sec network, etc.

Orange package includes espn, espn2, and espn3.

Blue package includes fs1 and fs2

Sports extra add on includes sec network, and a bunch of other channels (I only care about SEC network).

I don't get local channels in my area so I don't get NASCAR on Fox.  An over the air antenna solves that issue.  Some markets do get FOX though so you'd have to check.

Yeah! Nice finish. Poor Kyle. Poor Joey. :D

Now how about this March Madness?? Watched the end of the Carolina game and now I'm watching Duke. Wouldn't that be something?? Duke and Carolina for the championship? It has happened.

Bye bye Duke. Not a good weekend for the ACC.

The brackets are busted!

An upset! SC was all fired up, and Duke seemed to run out of steam.

Just goes to show it takes a coach from Indiana to show Los Angeles how to play big time basketball. First it was John Wooden and now Steve Alford taking UCLA to the 16.

I use Playstation Vue as a replacement for cable, and get HBO/Showtime from their streaming services.  Between that and getting rid of phone from cable company and changing to VoiP I saved $70/month.  On Vue (depending on package) you get 3 or 4 ESPNs, 3 or 4 Fox sports channels, B1G, golf, plus the networks (CBS/NBC, etc)
