That Señor Croque looks pretty epic.

We shared a Coop Deville and a Chopped Salad with fried chicken. The sriracha Thousand Island dressing was a great touch.

Id go back again in a heartbeat.

Conversation was top notch. Shes my main hag.

Went to Crack Shack last month...so good!

If you haven't been to J&I it is fantastic as well.

CV - I know you're a habitué of the Airspace lounge at SAN - what do you eat there?  DGF ate there recently (before the DFW flight that you walked off of), and said it was the worst airport food she'd ever had.

You can find out for yourself next month, K.  Their opening a store on 17th in Costa Mesa - targeting a November open.

99% of the time I have a breakfast sandwich (with bacon; you have to specify).  They’re decent.

Funny you say that, now it clicks. Someone was talking to me the other day about some Top Chef opening a restaurant in Costa Mesa and I just figured they were talking about Amar Santana and his Vaca that is already open (for a while).

A couple of my favorite spots are right there. Santa Monica Seafood is the best seafood market around and has awesome spicy ahi poki, and El Matador is around the corner on Newport/18th.

I'm taking my son to "cowtown" in Fort Worth today and am planning on eating at Joe T. Garcia's.  I love the shaded outdoor dining, and it is comfortable even in the heat of summer here.  They have a limited menu, but do it all well and you never wait very long for your food or drinks.

That is fantastic news...you've made my day Jeff!

I have been to both of Amar's restaurants, multiple times (Vaca as mentioned and Broadway in Laguna).  They are both excellent.  Also went to 28 in Irvine (owner is Shirley from last season of TC) and was not impressed.  Food was average and service below.

Went to CUT in LA this weekend for the anniversary.  Overpriced (as is everything in BH) but the steak I had was phenomenal.

Always looking/willing to trade good restaurant recs in OC.

My friend Belinda works at Broadway. And it is great.

Have you been to Selanne's yet in Laguna? Off the charts. Il Barone recently took over Ti Amo.

I've also recently heard about (never been) a speakeasy in the Irvine Marriott of all random places that has one of the best bartenders around.

I’m currently eating a slice of pepperoni and sausage at Pizza Authentica.  I thought I was in Crystal City/Arlington, but the receipt says Washington, DC.

I’m using the free wifi from the Navy Federal branch next door.

I get to Crystal City/Arlington, Virginia, about once a year for a business function, and I never miss the hot meatball/mozzarella sandwich with spicy pepperoni from Bozzelli’s Deli.  I just annihilated one, and I may do this again tomorrow.

We have been to Selanne's.  Thought it was excellent as well.  Definitely a better experience than Mastro's, for sure.  If you want something a little more casual they have a great burger and wine pairing at Capital Grille for $25.

Haven't been to that place in the Marriott, but there is a really cool speakeasy in the Anaheim packing house.  Good for drinks, skip the food.

K and CT: Do you like Persian food?

I’ve been to Darya (at South Coast Plaza) a couple of times, and the fesenjon is particularly toothsome.

I found a recipe for this dish online and tried to make it at home, but it was awful.   I paid like $16 just for the pomegranate molasses.

My lunch plans fell through, so I walked over to Legal Sea Foods because it was close.

I have violent, unpleasant physical reactions to most seafood, so I’m having the grilled salmon, with brown rice and broccoli on the side.

I’m having a flashback to my only other visit to a Legal Sea Foods (in Boston), 20 years ago, where over dinner conversation I learned that many swordfish carry so many parasites that there is only one salvageable steak in the entire fish.  Gross.

On a scale from feckies to mind-blowing, I would call this edible.  The salmon is pretty good, but the sides... :swoon:
