I assure you that this will be a running thread.

I was just in an online meeting, and the host kept calling it a webinar, and for a moment I wished I was sitting right there so I could slap her across the face.

"That being said..." followed by a bunch of backpedaling crap. Every blogger writes this, and I want to punch them in the throat for it.

The buzzwords don't bother me as long as they are used correctly.

What bothers me is poor grammar and bad spelling.  Examples:

1. You're and your

2. Between you and I

3. I could care less

4. Use of apostrophes to pluralize a noun

5. Use of nauseous when the speaker means nauseated

I agree with all of those, especially #4.  I also hate it when someone doesn't know the difference between "fewer" and "less," as well as the improper use of the word "myself."

  • "Conversating"
  • Random overemphasized foreign-language pronunciation of words or proper names when you're otherwise speaking American English with no discernible accent: "I gave the package of puffed rice to  Rrrrrrrrramone", or "I had the chicken salad on a ccchhwhasssannn"
  • "Aight?"
  • baby-bump, bump-watch

I'm trying to hold back here, but I'll add "effect" when "affect" should be used.  Either can be used as a noun or verb.

Also, lie and lay.  One lies down but lays a glass on the table.
