This isn't really considered a "backdoor", right, since you can only get access to it if you are denied credit? If someone wasn't denied credit, and they had already used their free annual report for the year, then they would have no choice but to pay for it, right? Or is there something I am missing?

I was wondering the same thing. Since I wasn't denied credit, will they know that I lied to get my report? No recent inquiries would be showing.

I did the experian credit report, but is there a way to get my credit score without paying?

Thanks!

Not the real one.

It's good to get all 3 scores when you start working on your credit, and then not buy them again for a long time while you do the work. Your score will go up and down as different things change. Most people use something like True Credit or Privacy Matters (in my sig) if they can get one of the specials. Or just take the trail period and then cancel if you decide not to keep paying for the service every month.

Hello,

I have not posted in a longtime but I just wanted to thank whomever posted these links. I had cleared up my credit and recently two items that were included in bk were back on my report that were deleted in the past. My score dropped alot so I was very glad to pull these reports for free (after I applied and was denied, once again, for the wells fargo secured card, which the bank rep told me I would definitely be approved - I was so mad because I had not applied for anything in almost a year). Thanks again and now time to work on these reports once again.

Bye for now.

These are the links to get the free reports from the CRAs due to declines/adverse action or what not:

Qualification is as follows:

. Within the last 60 days, you have received an adverse action notice based on information from your credit report, such as:

Denial of credit, or other unfavorable action affecting a credit application or account.

Denial of insurance, or other unfavorable action on an insurance application or policy.

Denial of employment, or other unfavorable action affecting current employment or an employment application.

Denial of, or other unfavorable action affecting, a government license or benefit.

Denial of, or other unfavorable action on, another transaction or account, such as an application for an apartment or utility service.

. You are experiencing one of the circumstances below.

You are unemployed and plan to seek employment within 60 days.

You receive public welfare assistance.

You have reason to believe your credit file is inaccurate due to fraud

The various CRAs tend to hide the free online access. For example, the Equifax tries to convince you to buy it or that it's only accessible through mail.

Here are the links:

http://annualcreditreport.transunion.com/t...ntSituation.jsp

(contrary to URL, this is NOT the free annual one)

http://www.experian.com/reportaccess/index.html

(Click 'Get my Report Now')

https://aa.econsumer.equifax.com/aad/landing.ehtml

(Equifax will constantly add on things and try and get you to buy something. Be sure to uncheck the things that require payment)

All of them require verification of some form, usually a series of questions, and I think TU requires you make an account if you don't already have one.

Enjoy, and use responsibly!

Note to mods: Outbound links and topic ok'd by breeze.

This is the link to use if the user already has a TU account.
