Who all has had trouble with them?

I contact them at least once a week to make a payment plan and get caught up.

Generic response is "We are unable to assist you, blah, blah, blah."

Now im slammed with lates, late fees, over limit fees and lord knows what else.

As i implied, i got behind.

Boy don't I know all too well about these guys.

I got way behind and they called almost everyday.

I finally contacted them and was placed on a payment plan where they automatically close the account and stop all collection fees, late fees at a 0% int rate.

Although, the card is closed (I don't mind it because I was going to close it anyway. had I not gotten behind) it has help me tremendously.

Have you tried going on their website and sending a payment that way.

yes, but it is asking WAY too much for a minimum payment. I dont see were all these extra charges come from.

I paid 2-3 hundred around Dec. Now the minimum payment is almost $500!!

I lucked out with Aspire myself... I also got them to close the account stop all fees and stop the interest rate. Fortunately however, the rep told me about their Match Pay program. This is where depending on your balance, they tell you what the maximum is that you can pay and they will match the payment three weeks later.

For example, my bill was $965. I was told I qualified for the Match Pay program and had an option to pay anywhere between $20 and $415. Whatever payment I made Aspire would then add a credit equivelent to the payment that I made. So of course I made the payment for $415 and Aspire gave me an additional credit for $415, which brought my final balance down to $135!!! As soon as the next statement came around, I paid the final balance and was threw with the card!

You guys should definetly ask about their Match Pay program and see if you qualify!!!! :clapping:

I had Aspire and defaulted on it which ultimately led to a charge off and referral to three CAs - $300 turned into $925, I am sure everyone who has defaulted with them has a similar situation. Account went bad in 2006. Has anyone had any luck rehabbing an account with them?

You don't want to rehab with them, their fees are the reason why so many people default. It's a bad, bad card.

If you're in a position where you "need" to get your foot in the door, join a local credit union and open a secured card there. Much easier, low to no fees, realistic APR, and consistency in service.

You have been a member of this board since 2005, and since then, there have been MANY threads about the awful Aspire Visa. Quite frankly, I can't remember reading one positive about this company.

Why are you blaming them for behavior that is already well-known and has been talked about here? While I do not like the way they conduct business, their tactics are nothing new. They are in the business to make money by fleecing their customers, most of whom have the card due to flawed credit.

Complaining about Aspire Visa is like complaining you got shot after giving a gun to a known sociopath.

Ive had the Aspire card since 2004. I havent had too much to complain about with them. At the time they were the only card to offer me an unsecured card only other card at the time was a $200 orchard bank secured. I like their web site I make sure I make my payment on it every month and they havent tried anything funny with me. The bad is they dont like to give out cli's the only time I had one was from 500 to 800 after I bought a computer for $479 and put me right near my limit for the first time and next statement my limit was 800 I think they were trying to trap me, like cross country bank did to me 10 years ago. Raise my limit couple hundred everytime i maxxed out my card to keep me at a progressivly higher and higher limit to get more intrest.

Yea, so? Did it ever occur to you that i could have opened this account BEFORE learning things here? (Im gonna say no, since you are quick to jump to conclusions) Also, if you read my link, you would have seen ONE positve comment about this company. Engage brain before mouth.

Name one company that HASNT beent complained about here. Credit card companies are in business to make money? And they screw people over? Well thanks for restating the obvious for me and 70,000 other members.

Good idea. Go do it.

try a letter JAck.

and Aspire has cards with no fees so many people in this thread are assuming too much. I've gotten several aspire prescreened offers for cards with no annual or junk fees.
