OMG OMG - I GOT A CITI BUSINESS CARD!!!

Recommended Posts

I would just get the 20.00 one for now, If you see something wrong adn it needs correction then they will send you a new corrected report and it will be the 40.00 one.

another thing to keep in mind,,if you purchase your Experian profile for the $19.95 you can repurchase anytime at half price for $9.99 for 90 days from the last purchase date.

We have two options under smartbusinessreports.com. The credit score for $19.95 or the business profile for $39.95. Would there be any reason to pay twice as much for the more advanced report if I'm just getting it to check on correct reporting information?

I bought the $39.95 report last week thinking I would find out who was reporting :( But it didn't list specifically who, only the type of credit issued. There are only 3 additional features on the $39.95 than on the $19.95 report. If you get the $39.95 rpt, make sure you e-mail it to yourself. Like a bozo :cry2: I didn't so I can't see it again unless I purchase it for 1/2 price.

Ooops I forgot to tell you that-email it to yourself because I did the same thing the first time I read them I clicked out and then had to pay to see them again. You can also compare the scores at a later date if you save them.

OK, NOT trying to be rude here, but.....there is no way they pulled your personal credit and gave you a card with those FICOS

Actually, last Monday (the 7th), I was approved for a Citi Platinum Aadvantage card, and my FICO on EQ (what they pulled for me) was at 595 (no derogs, though..don't know if that mattered in the decision). I got the card this last Monday, and it's working just fine (CL of $2,800). So, it is possible :)

Congrats, jenyphur! I applied for the Citi Business card, too. Haven't heard from them yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

:cry2::( WOW! I am guessing the "no derogs" had alot to do with it. I had always heard that Citi was TOUGH! I guess I was wrong. Somebody better report me for giving bad advice. B)

I was curious about this so I called Citibank Business Credit Services was transfered around a bit until I spoke to someone who actually knew what they were talking about. They verified that they DO check personal credit scores along with D&B when approving these accounts. The bureau will vary depending on what state you live in I believe. I can't do this - I can't afford any new inq's on my personal credit for awhile :(.

If this is true.......(and I don't always trust that csrs know what they are talking about)..then, your BIZ credit must weigh ALOT more than your personal. Explain this......

They pulled Equifax AND Experian for me (not sure which was personal and which was biz...IF there was a biz pull). At best, they got FICOS in mid 600s WITH MBNA CO from 2002, a collection account with Asset Acceptance...and if they pulled Equifax they also saw a CO with JC Penney from 1998 AND a paid collection with Arrow Financial. They wouldn't even give me a toy personal card, but they gave me TWENTY THOUSAND dollars for biz???? I don't think so. Either they didn't pull it, or pulling it is a technicality and they base approvals on D&B and Experian.

Well I really hope the csr's are wrong - I couldn't resist so I broke down and applied :(. I have an 80 paydex, 5 reporting on both D&B and Experian but not sure what my Experian Biz score is. Personal FICO's are all in the 580-600 range from a few collections and charge off's. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.

If and when you get the card, can you also let us know if you are inc'd, how long in business, and annual sales. Pleeeeeease, we are in need of cash. Building up biz credit now, we have 2 lines and should get 2 existing to update.

Thanks a lot.

Trust me, I was equally in shock myself when I was approved online (first instant approval I'd ever gotten!). Then, I spent a week nervously waiting to see if there was some sort of mistake, and whether or not I'd get the card.

I can't explain why they said yes. I'm figuring the no derogs had a hand in it, and I'm hoping that if they use the same criteria, they'll approve me for the business card :)

I didn't get an instant approval message - I received the following after applying online:

Thank you for applying for the CitiBusiness® Card! We will contact you within 30 days at the address you provided once your application has been processed. Requesting additional cards for employees can be done after an account is opened.

Don't sweat it. I got the same message and was approved.

Wow!! Great thread!!! CONGRATULATIONS, jenyphur! :yes2:

Just a thought, maybe they also look at your history with other Citibank issued biz cards/accounts (i.e. Amazon.com, Office Depot, Staples, Sears, Home Depot, Expo, etc)?? Maybe if you've had established *some* good relationship with them through these other cards, they're more inclined to approve you? I don't know..., I'm just mind-boggled and absolutely thrilled about the success you guys had. Truly an inspiration!! :sorry:

Possibility...thanks for bringing it up. I have had every card you mentioned (except for Expo) for more than 6 months with perfect pay history. Could be.....

Hmmmmmmmmm.....now I am wondering how they arrive at the credit limit??? What is the highest credit line you have reporting (if you were approved for Citi)??? And how does that correlate with your CL?? Wondering if having $40,000 Excursion reporting factored into my getting 20K.

Dang, where is youandme when you need him? he would have ALL of these answers.

I swear I don't think they actually PULL your personal credit unless they don't have enough info from D&B and/or Experian Business. You know?

So we have at least 2 that haven't gotten a pull, maybe 3 with ceowens but that one is hard to tell.

Who else is going to try?

I have pretty much ALL the business tradelines you can get and a lot of those are with Citi so maybe that has something to do with it. Who knows.

Yes, you are giving them a PG if the account ever defaults but that doesn't mean that they actually pull your credit to approve the account. Interesting, very interesting.

We need more guinee pigs.

My highest CL is $15k for CompUsa and BestBuy but I don't know if those are Citi. My CL for HomeDepot is 5k, Expo is 2.5k and Sears is 5k.

Ceowens, you might be on to something.

I would think that you would get more than 4K with those couple of 15K lines reporting. Maybe it has nothing to do with it at all. Maybe it is age of file, or age of biz, or maybe it is the magic 8 ball. Who knows? What matters is that it is the closest thing to a NO PG credit card we have found yet. WOOHOO!

UPDATE: I called Citi Business (800.288.4653) and talk to yet another account specialist after I applied. She seemed very knowledgable and very helpful. She said that only the D&B on the business is pulled and no personal credit is pulled unless there is no information on the business. She gave me a reference number for our application and told me I could call back within a day or two and get the status of the application.

ceowens - We were just approved with AMEX Business 20k no pg and are pending for a G.E. Productivity card also 20K with no pg. There are several no pg credit cards out there.

MNM, I want to make sure you understand that those cards DO have a PG, they just don't do a hard pull on your report. There is a BIG difference. If you ever default on the cards, they can and will go after you for the balance. You, personally are still giving the guarantee. :)

Did the AMEX ask for your lease agreement and bank statements?

just got an instant approval for $5,000, I don't have any hard inqs showing up either. My ficos are EQ 607 TU 621 EXP 563.

Also on a side note, I am not trying to get you mad MNM and I don't know how the other members feel about this but I don't think it is neccessary to call credit card companies to verify information you are receiving on this board. If you aren't sure on the validity of the post wait a couple of days and see if someone proves it wrong. What if everyone is getting approved on accident and you just pointed out the problem to the credit card company, you might ruin it for everyone else. I know I will be pissed if my approval gets taken back. I have been reading this board for months now and feel that pretty much everything is valid especially when it is posted by someone that has been around for a while.
