Does your statement balance report to the bureaus at the close of business day of the Due Date?

For example, with Discover, now Capital One. I had a balance of $89 and change, I believe. Today was the due date.

I paid it in full.. at some point today, it will change from "Processing" to "Payment Received."

When it does, I will have a zero balance.

Is that what will report to the bureaus?

not necessarily.

I assume that your $89.xx was your last statement balance.  If you paid that in full by the due date which is today, your statement date is likely within the next week or so.  What will report is whatever your balance is at COB on the statement date.  If you've made purchases since the last statement cut, or even if you paid the card 100% in full and you make purchases over the next couple days that post before the statement cuts, that balance is what will report to the bureaus.

One exception is JPMCB.  If you pay your Chase card to $0.00 at any point, they will automatically report a zero balance to the bureaus whenever the payment posts.  I've had that happen a couple times and when it's unintentional I'm always surprised by the flood of notifications from the various monitoring services :)  Capital One/Discover however do not do this.  I don't know if you can call them and request an off cycle report if it's important.  I know some cards do and some don't, but I don't really know which are which off the top of my head.

If you're trying to get that zero balance to report for something like AZEO be aware that the *amount* that your card will report will be whatever it is on the statement date, but there is some lag between the statement date and the reports actually being reflected on your credit report.  Usually it's a couple days, but I have had them take up to two weeks before.  I was paying attention at that time because I was just trying to see what my optimized scores could be, and it was frustrating not seeing those reports :)

As supern8tural said, with MOST issuers, the balance showing on your statement date is what gets reported to the CRA's.

Another exception in addition to the Chase one supern8 mentioned is US Bank.  They report whatever your balance is on the first day of the month.  : /
