olywa Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) Ok....went through some bad times, my AMEX got close to charging off. Before it c/o'd I called them & agreed to pay in full, in payments. We are nearing that pay off date. Does Amex traditionally let you open up a new card if you have paid them in full & generally rehabbed your credit in the 2-3 period prior? FWIW I'm gainfully employed now & have been for 3 years, don't expect that to change. No BK was involved TIA Edited May 31 by olywa Quote

FWIW I'm gainfully employed now & have been for 3 years, don't expect that to change. No BK was involved TIA The Optima Card was previously issued to members with a history of debt write-offs, allowing them to maintain cardholder privileges while repaying their outstanding debts to American Express (Amex) through a debt-remediation assistance program known as the "Oasis Program." If you have not yet received an invitation to participate in such a program, you may contact American Express by phone to confirm whether the Oasis Program remains active and to seek further guidance. In practice, you typically need to hold an Optima Card and complete a 12-month "probationary period" before becoming eligible to apply for a standard unsecured credit card. Among the various options available, applying for the American Express "Green Card" may represent your most promising path toward successfully reinstating your membership status. Quote
get.randy Posted June 1 Posted June 1 I don't think Optima applies here as OP says they've already (or soon will) have paid off their previous balance. You will not be blacklisted by Amex since your acct was not charged off or IIB. You can apply for a card in the future and will be held to their standard approval metrics. The credit pulls database should give some guidance here. ShawnPY1972 and MP80 2 Quote
